Default Remote fob issue

Some thoughts from you guys. Got an issue where the car is not recognising the key fob to start the car or let me in it. The key has been checked and is working perfectly fine. When trying to make a new key, the mechanic was having trouble with getting a proper signal from the vehicle to tune the key. At one point the car did not pick up a signal from all THREE working keys....

Gurpal:
When I first bought my XKR I was changing batteries like diapers. I figured "This car must always be looking for its fob and wearing out the battery". Well, after assembling and disassembling the fob so many times I got pretty good at it. I then realized that the battery "placement" was my problem, I wasn't reassembling the fob quite right all those times. Once, I finally figured out to insert the battery and test the buttons BEFORE I added the second clamshell piece and final assembly, I never had fob issues again.

I have gone an entire year with no, weak battery, key not recognized issues, or insert the key into slot issues. It's all in the proper assembly before you close the clam and add the silver ends.

Enjoy your 5.0,
Rick D

Richmond (Virginia) Jaguar and Land Rover will replace fob batteries as a courtesy for regular customers.
See Holley or Tony (Parts dept. manager) at the parts counter.
Likely same for other dealers.

That's a fallacy that's carried on for decades. The car doesn't 'look' for anything until a door handle or boot latch is touched.
I'm glad you got it figured out. The case is kind of fidgety at times. The spring pressure contact points also become weakened and don't contact after awhile.
