Default Unable to program key fob

Hi all

I can't seem to get my car to register the new key fob I have. I was given it when I bought the car and the gent said that this new key has been tested with other XKs and worked. Could it be an issue with the reciever in the car?

I can successfully get the car to enter 'learn mode' just fine. But when pressing the buttons on either the old remote or new one, nothing registers.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Pop out battery or batteries and check them. Older X100s used remote LJA2610AA and it takes two CR2016s that provide 6 volts. Later models use LJE2610-AC and that uses one CR2032 which is twice as thing as the CR2016 and that will only provide 3V. 2001 was the transition.
I take it the car chirped after pulling the shifter stalk. You can see the little red LED blink in the shifter wood panel a few inches in front of the shifter if there's communication from the FOB.

Hi Jrnsr,

The new key fob i have is LJE2610-BB on it, looking online it seems like the right one for my model?

There was no red light registering any input from the key fob when I attempted to program it using the Flashing highbeam lights method.

Okay I've tried new batteries in both the original and new key fob and no luck.

Car still doesnt detect any button presses during the learning mode
