Default Removal of fuel rail X150

Hi All,

I'd appreciate some assistance with regard to the removal of the fuel rail of my 2010 XKR 5.0L SC V8 Petrol.
The engine is currently being overhauled after she failed to proceed

Have you downloaded the free 5.0 service manual from Jaguars Topix site? That's a must have and pretty informative.

I went the TOPix site and it indicates that a subscription is required to access service manuals? Is there something in there that I'm missing?

I'm not sure. I jumped through the hoops with those people getting a login setup to capture the documents but now my password has expired... A google search brings up some of them as well. I got the X150 service manual, 5.0 service manual, electrical diagrams and a bunch of other pertinent PDF's.

Good luck.

Yeah, one injector broke during removal of the cylinder heads.

You are the one that could be educating us.

1. how in the world did this car need cylinder heads removed. Its too new of a car. What happened, we could really learn.

2. if you are doing that yourself you are a 10times more advanced and brave than anyone I have seen here.

3. Please document your progress, it would be invaluable to a lot of people here.

Classic Girl,
If you ever make it to the States, look me up you have a career waiting. You found the owner's manual all by yourself and a roomful of folks could not.

Ha Ha, I was thinking almost the same thing! I thought I had a pretty good grasp of web surf discovery but my hat is off to CG! I'm not worthy!

Pwpacp,

We also have to realize how insanely difficult it is to get parts in South Africa, and tools.
And at what astronomical costs when you can.

As example in New Zealand things are double- but so is the pay. In SA its triple and the pay is a quarter. Insane import taxes.

We are witnessing how superhumans are made when people have their backs to the wall.

My godparents are from the Cape.

I wish that was the case. I have just paid over NZ$140 from the local Jaguar dealer for a thermostat for my '07 XKR. If I had walked in to a dealer in the UK, that would have cost NZ$70.

I am in the top 10% of wage earners in NZ and my pay has finally passed the wage I was on when I left the UK in 2004 and the only reason it has managed to do that is because the value of the pound has slumped so much.

The house price-to-income multiple here in Christchurch is 5.25, and in our largest city, Auckland, it is 9.55. New Zealand is not a cheap place to live!

Default 2007 xkr leaking fuel

My car started smelling like gas and yesterday right after startup I saw some liquid near one of the front injectors (fuel-filler side). I've been doing some searching and it could be the pulse dampeners but I need to get the supercharger plenum off to even see the fuel rail. It sounds like I need to remove the rail then send it off to injector doctor or get a new one for $800. Either way can someone point me to a tutorial on how to remove the fuel rain on a 2007 xkr? I've been to the jaguar topix site and it crashed.

Once I've gotten to where I can see the fuel rail can I try and start the car to witness the leak? The car just turned 60,000 miles.

Thank you!!

You can purchase the X150 workshop manual from one of the many vendors on the Internet for roughly 20.00$US.

I did look at the stickies and got a pdf off the mediafire share 'my x150 workshop manual'. I could not find how to remove the supercharger plenum and fuel rail. It seems like many have done it I was hoping for a writeup from a member.
I did enjoy reading your thread about the green turtle. It sounds like you can macgyver anything.

You might try the X350 or the S-Type forums. More DIYer's on those forums. This one lacks pics but has step my step on replacing the valley hose, but you have the 4.2 SC so most if not all is the same. And since you are taking the SC off, you should change out the valley hose. Hope this helps.

It is in the workshop manual but you need to know what to search for. The fuel rail is know as the Fuel Injection Supply Manifold and is in section 303-04A.

The instructions for that point you to the appropriate sections to remove things like the 'charge air cooler'.

I'm finding the workshop manual to be somewhat useful but also super frustrating. Its more of a reference for technicians already familiar with these cars and engines than a thorough how-to manual. There's almost no instructions, just diagrams and illustrations--and thousands of superfluous warning statements. Simple things like fuse IDs and locations are hard to find.
