Default remove center vents

Hey Folks,

I want to replace the center AC vents (above the Nav screen) in my '08 XK-R. My original is missing a tab.
Anyone "been there done that" and can offer tips?

I'd remove the other tab. Much easier and cheaper than to R&R the existing unit.

But if you've already bought the replacement ...

Yeah, I have a nice replacement as seen. I would replace the "tab" if I was assured I could remove it without damage to it or the vanes.
I'll take a good look at it, anyway. Thanks for your comments.

A good look at it reveals the "tab" is sandwiched in the vane. Doesn't look like it will come out without a fight LOL!

Yeah, it might "pop out" after you remove the wood facia trim.

OK, here are two more views. Need to remove the facia trim first to enable it to "pop out"

Get yourself a set of trim removal tools, cheap on ebay, make sure they're the plastic ones, and carefully pry the trim off. Work from bottom to top. Taken mine off twice.

Thanks for the tip. I do have the trim removal tools.
Will start from the bottom of the facia and pry both sides at once and work upwards?

I started on one side, passenger I think, worked up about half way, then started the other side and worked it up half way. Then back to the passenger side and worked it up to the top, and then back to the other an worked it up to the top. Finally work the top free.
