Default Remove plastic engine cover

Hi all

invesigating into my new to me XK 2011 I would like to take a look below the plastic engine cover. How is it safely removed? Any screws or clips that need to be removed first?

as you all know. When you do first steps and small repairs on a new car yourself, you are prone to make stupid mistakes. I would like to avoid whatever possible...

The cover simply lifts off. It is supported on 4 pins that the cover snaps onto so a little gentle prying will release it. No tools required.

I put mine back on recently as it is just coming in to winter here. The one on the 5 litre is a lot harder to put back on than the one on the 4.2 litre!

It took me quite a few goes to get the pins in the right place then needed a sharp tap with my hand to clip them in.

Here's mine after it was hydrographic coated in carbon fiber-look film, with red letters and leaper logo.

In the f types you can hear supercharger whine more if you take them off. Unfortunately I didnt know that when I had the XKR. I hear the whine in mine until the exhaust noise gets too loud and drowns it out, though it isnt very loud.
