*The first wire to pull is just to the right of the steering wheel, I think this is a microphone, but I'm not sure. Trace the wire back into the dash, it has about 10" of cable before it hits a plug that can be pulled. Once unplugged you can pull from the front.

Great job. Thanks so much. Just so you know..that little F'...er to the right of the steering wheel (shown on your seat) that looks like a microphone (there are vents in the wood when dash is together) is actually the aspirator..its a little fan in a tube that pulls air in to see what the temperature is for your A/C system. It makes all kinds of humming/vibrating noise when loose or the foam around it starts stiffening up.

The end caps just pop off, be careful if you are already cracked.

Thanks. I'll give it a try. Does the pillar trim or anything else need to come off first?

No, just gently pull. See here:

See post number 6 in the link if you want to replace it and need a part number. I found one at a salvage yard. Same part #'s for both the XK and XKR.

While asking questions, can the dash speaker grill be replaced in place? Mine is cracked but not worth the labor to pull out dash, but I would fix if it’s a simple pop on/out.

Thanks.

Speaker grill is held on by clips, just pops off... No need to remove dash

Photobucket killed the embedded photos, but Chrome and Firefox both have a plugin that will inject them, making the thread look original.

I didn't realise as I have the plugin so they look fine. You didn't use the insert image tool?
That should store them on the forum servers.

I typically post to 3 or forums (for my restoration and kit car threads), when you hot link it makes it easy to compose once and paste into multiple sites.

Curious what everyone else sees, I switched off the plugin and there was still no difference.
If people can't see them I'll go back and fix it.

Sorry to resurrect this thread. I am removing the dash on my 07 XKR convert. Your write up has been a great help, Thank you! This job is pretty easy with instructions. Now the one part that I am having trouble with is the black radio frame (circled in red) is unbolted but it will not pull out. I don't want to use to much force pulling on it. Any suggestions? TIA

I can see there are still screws in the surround in your pic. There are 10 screws in total that have to come out. The two small ones at the top, and four big ones down each side.

And actually, you've disassembled parts you didn't need to. The whole stack with the climate panel, CD player and touchscreen all comes out in one piece.

Ahhh Ok Thank you. I did not see the radio removal instructions and thought there were bolts under the climate stack. I backed out the 2 small torx up top and took 4 larger torx out of the frame as those looked to be whats holding it in. There are some more larger torx I can see but they don't seem to be going through the black plastic frame, they go through the metal frame under, so these come out too?
