Your BUZZING is probably the.... oh heck, I can't remember what it's called, but it's a tiny fan blower behind the slots on the dash that sucks in air for... its purpose.
They get dirty and buzz like that. Take it out, clean it off and reinstall. No Mote Buzz!

No, its not the little fan that sucks in air to control the cabin temperature. Its actually more of a creak when the body twists. Well that what I thought, and I thought it was coming from the top of the dashboard. My microphone on a stick picked it up at its loudest in the corner of the windscreen area and it now looks like it could be the top wishbone bush! Sound travels in mysterious ways around a car! Now it looks like I have the dash board in bits for no reason, Perhaps! Good job I am retired!

 

What a wonderful thread ... $500 in Houston sounds really low cost ... local Jaguar Dealer said the new part is $4,600 plus tax PLUS INSTALL !!!

Any recommendations for reasonably cost upholstery shops in the San Jose, CA area?

Thanks to your excellent directions and pictures I got my dash out with little problems. It did take me three hours, but I didn't want to rush it. I didn't see where I had to take the guages out, but it was necessary.

Just taken mine out (radio head unit NOT dash!) using this guide, for the T30 screws the two top and two bottom are slightly shorter than the middle four . Thanks for the guidance

I have a 2013 xkrs whose pristine dash was Fkd up by a tint shop allowing the water/soap solution to get into the seams and stitching.

I am so bummed but this thread has given me hope in getting it recovered and as close to new as possible. A new dash is not cheap (SEE IMAGE) and the dealer says they are on back order.. Meaning they are probably custom made upon ordering.

Big question I have is...

Where did you source the replacement material that matches the grain and color of jaguar.??

Mine is charcoal with ivory stitching.

If you can share any info on sourcing materials I would be so thankful.

Have one black and white stitching in Poland... But it was starting to delayer next to the speaker. For sure better than yours, but not ideal. If you don't find any other solution - let's talk. Delivered will not be cheap, but still fraction of the price of new.

PS. back order does not mean that it will be produced for your order - might be, but may actually occur that it will never be available (not having a discontinued status)...

Tony - I'm in the process of getting my dash recovered due to the leather shrinking/separating. Replacement costs were unaffordable. I found several reupholstery shops in my area who could do the work, but none were willing to remove the dash. The dealer looked up the cost and it's 8.2 hours of labor (per JLR) to detach and reinstall, and they were unwilling to hold the car while my dash was recovered by another shop. I finally found a place willing to do the work and I have an appointment to take it there next week. The total price quoted was $3,200, with about $1,400 of that being labor to take out the dash. Not cheap, but much more reasonable than a complete replacement. I'll send pics once completed. Good luck.

 

I feel your pain. Suggest you PM Tberg. He has had experience with dash repairs and sourcing the necessary materials. He is in the SoCal area and is a very good guy. Good luck!!
