Q & C you freaked me out on that 1.5 mm additional length. I checked the bolts and they are indeed 1.5mm longer than the standard lug nut. However, I put the bolt into the wheel socket and it is 1mm inside the wheel so not likely to press against the rotor. Additionally, if the bolt is longer than wheel thickness after 92 ft lbs of torque, it still has 1.5mm to go within the inset of the rotor that allows the retaining washer to sit in deep. You can see this in the two photographs attached. I have also checked the tensile strength of the steel used for the Toyota style lug nuts and it's pretty good. SCM 435 Steel. So, I'm going to go with them until I see any deterioration of the bolts.

Yes the steel on the Toyota ones are fantastic, I have it on my superduty Toyota 4x4.

I just meant, dont risk different sizes and contact points. Sounds like you know what to look for.

Am sure I commented on this thread previously but can't find the post.

In a mere 37yrs of driving/car ownership I have never one had a tyre shop use an impact.air tool when tightening/loosening my nuts, I've insisted they do it by hand and have watched them, perhaps I've more time than my employed brethren stateside, as have never had less than 6 weeks paid holiday in the last 20yrs and have never ever had to work a weekend??

Now I have these fitted I am even more extra careful, and yes they are jaguar approved

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jaguar-XF...gAAOSwtRBbjm8p

I paid a mere £100/$125 inc delivery and they look mighty purdy!

You didn't look closely enough, I have them fitted, but paid a mere £10/$12.60 delivered, albeit Chinese knock-offs that require copper grease so they'll not bind

Actually, I did look before I posted it. I'm on my Galaxy S8 and enlarged your photos to the max and your valve caps were too fuzzy to tell.

I've got the same growler lug nuts, only silver, on my XKR. I wondered where they came from. Pricey varmints, aren't they?

Check your caps periodically, as the growler is simply stuck on with weak adhesive. Saw one was missing on a wheel, fortunately found it on the garage floor.

I have tried some Chinese ones. Looked nice but they were so heavy (ones with the anti-theft locking rings) that they affected the wheel balance. Went in the bin to be replaced with simple thin, chromed ones. Be warned

When I bought the XKR, it had Jaguar OE ones with the Union Jack on them. Light enough and good quality but they went AWOL shortly afterwards

I have those (obviously). You must pinch them back, like I did, no one buys those.

The OE are only $20 or so, cant believe how miserly and counterproductive some are to buy oriental junk, to feel good no less.

My oriental junk one's have held up well, plus the wrapping around the outer is a carbon fibre finish, no wear and no theft as the kids on my cul-de-sac have grown up and progressed onto drugs.

I remember when I had a set on my X100 15yrs ago and they all went missing, three brothers aged 6-10 all had them fitted to their bikes, so I went around and saw the parents and got them returned.

I think the kids got a stern talking to...read as BEATINGS!

Every kid needs a beating occasionally.
ANYWAY, I have a good set of Growler Caps that I've had for probably three years now. The solid ones with anti-theft set screws holding 'em on (although I removed those). They still look perfect and have never loosened by accident or by theft. The Amazon link is dead, so I can't find 'em again, but here:

Guess I hadn’t given much thought to valve stem cap theft before. So if you had used the set screws, and some low-life came along and stole ‘em by cranking them off with an appropriate sized socket and sufficient leverage. Your valve stem threads are now f*cked, right?

I had purchased a set of Ferrari caps and while at a Ferrari event race day at Limerock park someone stole 2 of them. My car was parked in a special part of the track for Ferrari's only too. I guess someone needed them more than I did.

You should see that guy's hotel ashtray collection. He's a non-smoker, and it's all about the rush.

....... which is why I removed the lock-screws. Well, between that and not having the correct hex when I need to remove them.

I have the Chinese version of those valve caps only with an "R" on them. Looks good and have lasted five years now. When I had the TPMS sensors replaced, the tire monkeys threw them away and put on cheap black plastic jobs. I noticed right away and had the manager retrieve them from wherever they'd disappeared to.

"Threw them away". Yeah, like, I'm so totally sure. <---- (in an Encino accent)
