Replacing Upper control arm ball joint boot
Hi
While preparing my car for winter storage I notices that front driver side upper control arm ball joint boot was cracked. It must have happened recently and I am pretty sure that the ball joint itself is OK. Unfortunately, Jag does not sell the boot by itself and getting a new OEM arm is ~$500. There are a few aftermarket alternatives, but I am not sure about the quality (of the ball joint).
1. Has anyone replaced the boot only and where did you get it?
2. Any recommendations regarding an aftermarket upper control arm? I've heard that Motorcraft makes them for some models but I am not sure about XKR-S.
Thanks

@BlueXKR-S , I do not recall the thread title but if you perform a search in this forum you should find a useful discussion on boot replacement and lubrication.
cheers.

Considering how the OEM are guaranteed to fail and the low cost to replace the arms, I’d advise you do that. Motorcraft arms are made by Jaguar and likely less than $300 for both sides. There are many aftermarket ones as well for less than $100 for the pair.
So far, I was able to find 3 aftermarket alternatives made by URO, Eurospare, and Mevotech, I cannot find Motorcraft or Lemforder listed anywhere for the front upper control arms.
steve_k_xk, can you share Motorcraft part number? What year is your XK? I have 2012 XKR-S
Thanks

Thank you both. This is exactly what I was looking for. Now, I am faced with a decision. Go with a more expensive Motorcraft part but made by Jaguar, or, get a cheaper Eurospare part that comes with a lifetime replacement wear and tear warranty.... Tough decision
There is not a big price difference between the two if you search hard enough, but as I said, Eurospare is JLR approved for aftermarket replacements and my experience how shown their parts and OEM parts appear identical.
I have purchased parts from this company with great experiences.

Thanks. I often order from fcpeuro . They offer free wear and tear replacement on any item you buy from them, including maintenance items. Meaning you only have to pay once, even brakes, filters and oil.
“The only exclusion to this program is empty containers with contents that can not be physically returned.”
You might be right, I have not returned oil, just filters and other stuff. But I assumed it would work with oil if you ship it back, not just an empty container. I did not want to mess with oil or brake fluid, so I never tried to ship it. If you look at pictures of returned items they share, they do show oil containers.
Oil is cheap compared to everything else my car needs. I can pay for it
