Smile Rim and Caliper Colour

Hello,

I was looking for recommendations regarding the colour of rims and calipers for my Silver 2007 XKR.

Considering that the car is silver I was thinking that although very pretty black rims are abit overdone.

Another recommendation I had received was gunmetal grey and bronze? Unsure about these colours and wanted some insight into what would match a silver XKR.

For calipers although it would have to match with the rims and car itself, I was looking into red and green calipers.

Would be happy for any recommendations and/or insight in regards to this.

Thanks!

Since your car is silver, you may not want Hyper Silver wheels, but it really is a nice color. Lighter color cars need brighter color calipers. Dark cars get away with more subdued caliper colors though because the added contrast.

Xelfla, here are chrome wheels and red calipers on my silver (Shadow Gray) 2009 XKR Portfolio.
If you want to know more about how I painted the calipers, go to https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...lipers-288436/ and see Post #9.

Thanks for the recommendation!

Will definitely take a look at some more Hyper Silver rims, the colour is really nice.

Because the XKR is Liquid Silver would neon green or red be fine in this case?

The chrome wheels look amazing, makes the red calipers really pop.

I guess in this case mute colours would be difficult to match with red or BRG calipers?

Thanks!

Yep, those wheels are Coventry Whitley, the best Jag wheels evah IMHO!
Specifically made to fit the Jag PCD and centre bore which are not common sizes.
See here: https://throtl.com/collections/coventry
They come in three flavours, chrome (as pictured), Hyper Silver and Black.
I put a full set in Hyper Silver on my old XFS then moved them to my XFR, 20" x 8.5" front and 20" x 10" rear.
I went with Hyper Silver mainly because full chrome seemed a little too gaudy to me, and the Hyper Silver still had chrome lips.
One thing that helped sell me on them was the deep dish rear lips, very very rare these days on Jag wheels and zero F-Type wheels with deep dish.
I wanted to then transfer them again to the F-Type and I even trial fitted them for a week, they fitted perfectly and looked great on the F-Type with the only downside being that the rears are 10" vs F-Type OEM rears are 10.5".
But the eventual buyer of my XFR insisted on having them (as per nearly all the pics I used in the ad) so I reluctantly moved them back to the XFR and went back to the OEM wheels (Blade) on the F-Type (and sold the OEM 20" Nevis separately).
I now regret moving on those Coventry Whitley wheels and I keep tossing up the idea of getting new ones, but it's now almost impossible to find an Australian distributor for them and the postage/shipping cost from OS is horrendous.

Interested to take a more in-depth look into these wheels!

Didn't even know websites like these existed, took a brief look and they had much more than just wheels with alot of different parts which would be super handy.
Would you happen to know more websites like these for jaguar parts?

Starting to think that hyper silver would be exceptionally good for wheels on a silver XKR.
Only thing that is bothering me is that I am based in NZ so it seems worse to find a suitable distributor for the things I would need, and as you had said when postage and shipping is a nightmare things just don't seem to move along smoothly.

Thanks for all the extra info!

Coventry Wheels used to have their own web site but I can no longer find it, however as you have found there are plenty of sellers out there for Coventry wheels.
For example here is one listing for Coventry Whitley wheels on Fleabay: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/35242722...3ABFBM1LKWw75l
As for Jag parts sellers again plenty out there, too many to list, but my favourites are Rimmer Bros and BritCar - both offer a wide range, good prices, reasonable shipping cost and good customer service.
As you have also found there are zero Jag parts retailers in NZ or Oz, and I mean zero, other than JLR dealerships who charge like a wounded bull and in my experience offer woeful customer service and take forever to get obtain the part(s) you are after, I refuse to go near them.
So you are stuck with buying from OS and paying for postage/shipping (never mind the crappy NZ or Oz exchange rates!).
Edit - forgot to add - for basic Jag service parts and consumables I usually use Rock Auto in the good ol' US of A, huge range, almost always the cheapest price around and reasonable shipping cost.

I would choose bronze. It quite unusual and looks fresh. I had it on my former black bmw and on present xk. Pretty sure it will works fine with gray too.

Good eyes, OzXFR! Yes, they are Coventry Whitley wheels that apparently were delivered as an option when the vehicle was purchased new (per DecodeThis.com). Here's the inside markings confirming your observation.
Besides the website throtl.com that you identified as selling them, I've also seen Coventry wheels at Autojantes.com, rimstyle.com, dkperformance.co.uk, and even on Amazon.co.uk. I sympathize with you regarding shipping costs.

Since you are in NZ, you could find another set of Jag mags that fit, and CHROME them. Look around in Austrailia as well.

I used to be anti-black rims on anything (along with that matt paint finish lol). The only matt finish I've seen that i love is on a black Range Rover in our parking garage.
I now love my black rims with silver calipers on the white XKR. I am sure you are thinking that whatever you decide you won't hate yourself afterwards so definitely take your time and look at lots of combo's.

My car is Stratus Grey and I ordered bronze wheels myself. I think gunmetal would work well with silver, and that was my alternate choice.
