Default roof hinge impeded and wont latch

I had a post with the roof not working on my 2007 XK8 and solved with help to conclude I have a rare luggage cover with missing metal clips. However to troublshoot I did the manual reset many times on the roof but now it wont completely close. Ive added a picture to show the hinge points that dont go together as they should creating an impedemnet preventing the final stage of close. The driver side is fine, its only on the passenger side. Does anyone have experience with this. So far all the standard fixes of a reset have failed. I have also turned the alan wrench for the latch hooks all the way open. The roof stops at this point and the latch hooks move to lock as if they are in place.

Hard to tell from the picture.
If you compare the passenger and driver side, can you spot any difference?
There was an owner that had a problem where the cable that runs through there was out of position, so it didn’t provide enough tension to close the top.
IIRC, the solution was to get the cable back into the correct spot, and there is some adjustment that can be made there to keep it in position.

I had that problem, the "U" hook is supposed to go around the stud thing, but it doesn't.
For the life of me I can't remember specifically how I fixed it, but the fix IS in this forum but I can NOT find it. Damn this poor Forum Search!!!
I even searched my Profile Posts, but it only goes back 500 posts.

The drivers side will go into place and is aligned. Ive looked extensivly for a cord of any kind that could be caught and there isnt one. A light string and a strap but neither is tight to cause this issue. Ive searched for the fix as you mentioned in a post but I cant find it. No doubt something very simple to fix this.

Thansk a million KJ, adjusting the rod did it. It doesnt look like the nut will move so I turned it once each time, surprisingly it to 5 turns to catch. THanks again!

Woo Hoo!
I'm surprised that I couldn't remember a thread less than three years old. I must be going senile. I did at least remember prying with a screwdriver, but adjusting that joint is a much better fix.
Course, I have never had a recurrence after my screwdriver fix and I use my roof a lot.
I'll have to remember (HA! Fat chance!) this if it ever happens again.

Hey my good man you step up a lot to help on here which is what this is all about. Its hard to remember all issues. However, I dont think that thread and nut ever moved so it may be a band aid solution to something else, we will see. Just like your srcew driver which I was thinking of but glad to hear it didnt come up again on your car and hope the same is here.

You’re welcome. But gotta thank Cee Jay too, as I found the thread by searching the word ‘hook’ in posts by ‘Cee Jay’.
Figured if he used the word ‘hook’ here, he probably used it on this topic before. Aye Captain?
