Default Running 305/30-20 in the rear for XKR-S?

I have XKR-S and considering getting 305/30-20 in the rear instead of stock 295/30-20. Can people with XKR-S comment if there are any rubbing issues when suspension is fully loaded or unloaded? I've seen several people on this forum with this setup and I appreciate your feedback.

Thanks

There is so much room in the wheel arches I reckon I could get a 325 in there no problem.

The only potential issue you could have with 305's is if you were running thick spacers on the back.

Cambo is correct. Use Tire Rack’s website to find a tire that has a wider tread width than what you currently have. P-zero tires have a wider tread than most. If you are not careful by going from a P-zero in 295 size to say a Bridgestone or Continental tire in 305 size you could actually end up with a narrower tread width. Tire Rack shows actual tread width and section sizes under the specifications tab. You will be amazed at the tread width difference for the “same” size tire.

I bet you could sink a lot of tire up there. You just need to sort out the geometry and figure where it's going during bumps.

I think you could get away with a 305 Pirelli and have a good look. As Cambo stated, I would not recommend a spacer and a wider tire. The original jag spec pirelli is 11.4" tread width.
Similar 295's are typically narrower than that.
Staying in a similar weight category you could hop onto a 305 Ferrari spec tire and have around 12"tread width. I wouldn't go much wider than that as I think you would you not have the ideal geometry for the tire to perform properly without stepping up to a wider rim.
The only compromise to this is, tire diameter, its going to be about an 1-1.4" which can compromise dynamics in the programming as this impacts rev/mile(km).
The other option is an Aston spec in 305 but then Pirelli spec tire is actually only 10" tread width.
I've done this with my XKR stepping up from a 285 to a 295, but I have not changed the XKR-S yet.

Ah, it's an X100, not an X150 like we are talking about here.

If you want to get completely rid of that "tiny rub", it's an easy DIY fix if you have the right tool and are careful and take your time. I did it myself many years ago when I went from the OEM 16" wheels to 18" AMG wheels and wider tires on my 1993 600SL. It was impossible to see when finished, no paint damage, and no more rubbing. Here's the tool I used: RollYourFender.Com - Home - Fast, Easy, & Affordable Professional Fender Lip Roller Rental

Old timers will remember the baseball bat method used back in the day. Really, no kidding. Why did we use a baseball bat? Because the results were hit or miss. No so with this tool; if I can do it, so can anyone who can read and follow directions.

that is exactly what I was going to do to get a tad more room. going old school sorry didn't know the difference between the x100 and x150
with the bat mod was figuring I could have gone to 325 35 20 but a little more rake than I would want.

If you don't want a taller tire but still want it wider, change the aspect ratio from 35 to 30. Heck, even a 345-25-20 will fit, but Just Barely and with differently sized and backspaced wheels.

Really easy to screw it up using a bat. The fender roller tool makes it really easy to do it right. Much better control over the arc and incremental pressure. It'll cost more to fix a bat mistake than to rent the tool. Your car, your money, your choice.
