Ha! I guess it serves me right for making assumptions. I'm looking at them too but unsure about how clean the install would be. Plus it seems like the XKs don't like parasitic power draws, so wonder if the hardwired ones draw a lot of power.

The repair quote came out to $3069 and change with the usual proviso for unforseen damage.

My dashcam draws its power from the 12v socket inside the glove box. It is easy to route the wire along the inside of the headlining up by the windscreen top and then down the A pillar and on into the glove box. There is no visible wiring other than the short length to the camera itself, which you will have no matter how you wire it - but this is only a couple of inches and is barely noticeable anyway. The 12v socket is ignition dependent, so the camera powers up and down when you switch on the car.

Same here. Every journey is special. I still can't believe how much car I got for money!
