Default Schroth 4-point quickfit pro race harnesses

These arrived today and in the process of getting them fitted now. They are the only harness that works with the OEM buckles and support OEM or race seats and HANS devices. Going to give them a try with the stock seats before I do full race seats.

Where do you plan to anchor the shoulder straps?

That’s the beauty of this harness, it attaches to the rear seat belt anchor points. You lose use of the rear seat belts but it is reversible. I did have to non-permanently modify the rear buckle receiver as Jag uses an odd shaped tongue using Ford receivers.

I've installed 5 points in one of my past cars. Shoulder straps were exactly the same, extending back to a rear seat buckle. I've often though about getting a set in the XKR as I love how much more precision they give you in driving corners hard.

Couple things to look into: I've had friends pulled over for wearing them on highways, as they are not considered DOT street legal restraining devices, and tickets can be issued! (Stupid as it sounds, its true.) Also, SCCA and other race organizations have imposed a life limit of only a few years before they are required to be replaced (much like your Snell rated helmets).

My harness time was long long ago, so things may have lightened up or gotten tighter, but I remember being angry, as UV damage/deterioration was one of the reasons quoted, and my car was garaged.

Gads I've missed a race harness when I push my Jag!

Have fun!

That's interesting that they are anchoring them that low. From my drag racing days that would be no good.

I would never use them on the street, again the front 3-point belts are 100% usable while the harness is installed, it’s just the rear that required swapping the receivers, held in with one bolt so an easy undo if needed but since I never use the rear seats it doesn’t matter to me.

I’m not certain of the rules here for lifespan, perhaps since this are not permanent it’s not as important. They have a manufacture date of May 2018 stamped so they are quite fresh.

I had to do this because my last run at Sebring was exhausting trying to stay seated.

I've posted a long response on previous threads, Not something i would use either. MAYBE in autocross where the chance of hitting anything solid is almost 0, but that's it.

Hi,

Which model of seatbelts is that exactly?
Is this for Mustang 05-17 (model: sr 19110)?

thanks!

https://www.schrothracing.com/item/s...ning-Harnesses and yes for Ford Mustang. I have been very pleased with them to date. Will see how they are after the Sparco buckets are installed. I don't really want to do a full cage and I've heard horrors about harness bars.

To answer previous comments, yes they have an expiry date as it is presumed they would be used a lot and under stress and exposed to sunlight which degrades the stitching, and while I've only used them at 9 track events and they never sit in the sun (garaged), which ever sanctioning body governs the event they are used for will dictate their validity. As for safety, I reckon they are much better than 3 point OEM belts and as for rear mounting point safety, Schroth is a major leader in racing harnesses and have developed these specifically to be safe in this application and as such, they should ONLY be used as designed and not interchangeable with harnesses designed for cages/bars nor should traditional harness be fitted in the manor in which these would be. Additionally they are HANS compatible (I use a HANS) and are designed with anti-submarining technology.

This is the same at Mustang or it does not matter as it is adjustable in this Schroth set?
