SDD and Power Supply
Hi,
My question is, do I really need a power supply plugged to the car, if I only want to re-calibrate the seats? I'm not interested in anything else at the moment (reading codes will come in handy though when my generic OBD tool isn't up to the task).
But if the general consensus is that a power supply is also highly recommended for a simple seat calibration, will something like this do the trick: 12V 50A PSU
Cheers

Quality power supplies tend to be expensive because of the large inductors and capacitors necessary for low ripple DC at 50 Amps.
Good deals on quality power supplies may be found but if it's small and/or light weight it's likely a SMPS or just too small.
See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_...r_power_supply
I've used SDD a good bit, and while having 50 amps isn't a bad thing, my amp draw while using SDD has never been over 27 amps.
I'm just laying that out there.........
Of course my battery has always been full. If an ailing car battery, the draw may be increased.

:-). Yep. As some of us (the smart ones) have said before; The moment the battery isn’t pulling her weight, she is replaced with one that does.
And just like the bulletin states, if you discharge too low, you’ve knackered the battery. Its a no brainer to me. Attach a real friggin battery charger when working on her.
