Whelp, I treat everything in life as an adventure. And this adventure has come across an obstacle.
I've lined up all that I need to get Mr12V in my US 08MY XKR.
Now to just get Portable Audio/USB enabled.
Called the two Indie shops that work almost exclusively on JLR vehicles. I remembered one of them mentioning SDD and they've been in business over 15 years, so felt confident.
Nope. Both use friggin Autologic. Ugh. While that may allow AUX, it certainly won't have engineering mode.
Both of them said try the Jag dealership, but I've read enough times in threads here that this would be a dead end.
One suggested the super high end auto electronics guy in town, but no. And why would they have JLR diagnostic software?

So. Without further ado. I am in Charlotte, NC.
Does anyone near me have an SDD setup?
And by near me, I'd drive 4+ hours to get this done.
Thanks in advance all!

I'll be at the Charlotte airport early tomorrow, but I won't have any SDD stuff with me. I'll wave at you on the way out.

Lol! I appreciate the thought.
Stop by the centurion lounge if you are there long enough.
It's fantastic!

@WhiteXKR is ~6 hours north of you. May be a bit far, and his schedule may not have availability, but you might want to PM him if it’s within your reach.

We have access to the American lounges, but I'll take a look at the Centurion if it's nearby.

Did they tell you that they can't enable USB/iPod or did you assume that since it's not SDD it can't be done? Engineering mode in SDD is a limitation Jaguar placed on their software for their specific business. They don't have control over another manufacturer. To Autel, it could be just a function to enable.

Update.
So I have now talked to the last two bastions of hope in my vicinity.
Got on the phone with the tech “who has been there the longest” at the local dealership.
— No sir, I don’t even remember using SDD.
Got a callback from the last jag specialist/Indie within an hour’s range. Family owned and around since 1998.
— We don’t have SDD, but based on recent requests we are looking into getting it.

I’m tempted to call the indie back and tell them I have all the software they need. I know they have the hardware. (Mongoose etc) And offer to help them set it up so they can better service their 96-16 car customers.
I suppose there isn’t much value in that as the only things they can’t do with an Autologics setup is stuff buried behind engineering mode. Can’t imagine there is a huge demand for that locally.

Autologic can easily do it. Your shop needs to schedule it with autologic and they will connect remotely with your car to make the changes. The remote location uses SDD and sends it to your car via the Autologic system at your shop. Anything in SDD engineering mode is in Autologic.

Wait what? Wow.
Talked to 3 indie shops as old as our cars and the senior guy at the jag service dept.
How did they not know this?

Anything specific you can share so I can use terminology that will help them understand what is expected? And what they need to tell/ask the folks at Autologic?

It’s not brain surgery…just tell them you need USB/Ipod activated and Autologic can do it…they need to schedule a remote with Autologic…depends on the level of their subscription…Drive up to West Chester, PA and let Dougherty Automotive do it…tell Ryan that I sent you…

Thanks. I’ll add that as a Hail Mary option as that’s 11.5 hours away.

I called the shop I’ve been using and told them about what you’d said.
They said yeah, Autologics has done the remote thing to reprogram quite a few cars they’ve gotten in.
They will check on my request and get back to me tomorrow.
Gonna guess it will run a bit more than the usual 70-100$ charge if the shop has SDD, but I’ll take it.
Waiting to hear back.

Thats on the docket. I have all the software components downloaded and a laptop.
What I don’t have is a mongoose$$$, the box thing I see in most setups (some kind of pass through?) or a bench power supply.
I’ll get there, but other car expenses take priority.

This is SO over my head..

Guess I'm glad that I'm happy with the status quo..

If you plan on keeping your 150 for a while, just invest in a SDD / Mongoose outfit. i wanted to make some extra key-fobs (my used 150 only came with one fob) but the dealer price was unconscionable. I made two spares and more than recouped my outlay for the SDD. Also used the SDD for other projects (seat calibration, &c, &c...).

Ok the shop called Autologics and said they said they can’t.
I explained it in more detail and he joked that maybe he just talked to the wrong person who didn’t know.
Set up a drop off appointment for 12/3 anyway.

We shall see.

He is calling Autologic back with the terminology I gave him. They are the #1 jag shop in the state and have been around as long as the XKs have.
Hoping he will sort it. But said come in anyway and we will try.
I’ll send him screen shots when I find them here to assist. I remember seeing them somewhere in this forum.

@Circumnavigator , I posted screenshots of SDD's line item for enabling the Accessory USB Unit here (https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...2/#post2863398). I have no idea how Autologic displays these configurable parameters as I have never used it.

Don't forget to have them also enable your "AUX" while performing the work. My list of other configurable parameters is here (https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/g...0/#post2847903) in case you want them to do other changes.
