Default Service History Lookup

Hi everyone...

Is there a way to look up the service history of a used XK? I am about to sign the check, but wanted a closer look at the history if possible. The vin # is SAJWA4FB7BLB41290. I purchased the carfax which showed :

Maintenance inspection completed
Cooling system checked
Engine compression checked
Engine checked
Radiator replaced
Engine/powertrain computer/module replaced
Battery replaced
Battery/charging system checked

Which has me a little concerned. Thanks for any help/advice!

Sean,

I think the service records should be available at the Jaguar dealer(s) who did the servicing. I believe those records are not networked.

I'd be concerned, too, since the radiator and ECM were replaced. What year is it? Mileage? How many previous owners and where? Who is the seller - Jaguar dealer (CPO), private party, car lot?

Don't consummate the deal until after you get (1) a written PPI (Pre-Purchase Inspection) from a Jaguar dealer and (2) a written body/undercarriage inspection for paint/body/chassis repairs from a body shop qualified to do aluminum repairs. This is a small price to pay (maybe $300 total) for peace of mind. You can't rely on CarFax - read their terms and conditions and disclaimers.

Only YOU are responsible for your own due diligence. If the seller won't give you a reasonable time to have this done, walk away.

Stuart

Thanks for the replies. The car is located in Florida, but spent most of it's life in Nevada. I managed to call the original Jaguar dealer in NV and he was kind enough to review the service records over the phone with me. Car was a Platinum Service Contract car and had no major issues. Autocheck did not show these reports, just Carfax. I'm guessing that Carfax has inaccurate info. I'll be closing the deal tomorrow, and hopefully a regular forum member soon. Thanks!

When I got mine I called the selling dealer and asked for the service manager. I told him about the car and he remembered it. He said he would send me a pdf file of the dealer service history which he did in a day. You just need to ask. Good luck with the car.

Getting the service history was how I learned of the blower motor and a radio replacement by the PO.
Unless being lazy, they should cooperate.

Or incomplete info.

Not all repair shops (dealer or otherwise) report to Carfax, Autocheck, etc. And, as mentioned earlier, dealers themselves do not share a service database....except for repairs that go thru the Jaguar warranty and/or Jaguar service contract system....in which case the records are held in a corporate data base which any Jag dealer can access.

Cheers
DD
