Default Sharkfin Antenna function?

As some of you might know im in the process of doing a grantley design spoiler install. Today I drove my car and was listening to the radio without the sharkfin attached. The picture above shows the shakfin cover and the electronic internals. That module has one wire that connects to a wire mounted in the trunk. If I was able to use my radio without this plugged in, what is its function?

Siriusly??? That's it? Why did they even attach it to the exterior of the car? They could have had a cleaner looking trunk without the sharkfin. I'm ditching that for sure. Now I have to replace the cover on the trunk solely for the purpose of covering the holes.

Satellite signals are pretty weak, expecting them to reliably penetrate the aluminum skin to get to an interior antenna to provide good quality, just wasn’t going to work. Lots of vehicles have shark fins on them.

I won't buy the satellite radio but i thought the fin was well integrated into the coupe.

The X150 shark fin is a vestigial styling cue that pays homage to the DNA of its ancestor, the immortal and legendary Jaguar D-Type.

I like my reason better than giving any credit to SiriusXM. Don't ask me about my experience with those crooks.

The paint on that D-Type is called Great White, and the stripe is Deep Blue.

Sorry, couldn't resist.
