Question Smog Flter Settings, Vent Rotation and Tire PSI ?'s

Page 96 of my owners manual shows a picture of the touch screen with sensitivity settings for the smog control and also icons for "vent rotation". I cannot access this screen via the climate control settings as described in the owners manual.
Anyone here know how to do this?

Also for those of you with 20's, what cold tire pressures are you running?

Thanks

What are the recommended tires pressures on the Xkr? On the inside of my door it says 39 front and 35 rear, which seems reversed, but I'm told those numbers are correct.

Rear tire pressure could be less to prevent crowning of those more lightly loaded tires (front weight bias of the car), and to provide slightly improved traction under hard throttle through additional sidewall flex. Tire inflation is also part of the overall suspension system, and can be used to fine tune the balance of the car. Just follow the inflation pressures shown on the car sticker and you should be good!

Wow, that's strange never seen fronts higher than rears; mine says 33F 36R (cold).

Don't know if the S has the same owners manual but could you check yours under the climate control section and see if it shows the smog and vent rotation settings?

Thanks,

My manual says the same thing about the smog / vent settings on page 96. However, on page 93 under air recirculation, it says "if a smog sensor is fitted". I'll play around with it this weekend and get back to u- if we can't find the setting, then it probably doesn't have a smog sensor.

Thanks OC, did it also mention vent rotation? What the hell is vent rotation anyway??? Check your tire placard again, something may not be right. Was your voice control for the phone activated? Mine was not, apparently the dealership is supposed to activate it for 2011's-2012's...weird.

my Service manual says pre-2009 cars did not have the sensor except for the Japanise market.
beyond '09 it says it is standard...

I'm not sure either, but I do remember reading a review for a different Jag model (XF I believe, but it could have been the XJ) that mentioned on startup, in addition to the shift knob rising out of the console, the air vents would open and rotate (I'm assuming to a user-preset position or something) at the same time.

Maybe another feature that didn't make it into the XK?

Interesting, could be, wonder why its a full page in the 2012 XK manual? If its a mistake you'd think Jag would have caught it by now and removed it?

My manual is the same as yours- mentions vent rotation, but I can't find it or smog filter settings on the climate menu. I confirmed with jag my tire pressures 39f, 35r- must be to optimize the set up of the S.
My voice control was not activated, but I'm good just using the touch screen

Hey OC,

I guess the owners manual is just screwed up, you'd think they'd get it right by the 2012 MY.

I still dont think the tire pressure are correct in that order, is that what the placard in your door jamb reads? Maybe 35F 39R is what they meant to say?

I will have voice turned on during my first service vist and see how it goes...must be pretty poor if they turned them all off. YOu d think for $110k + they'd of given us the new sysytem in the XF and XJ, nope hand me downs...lol

Thanks V

So they have XF only stuff in the XK manual...bad enough the XF (the lowest priced Jag) gets the better voice etc, XF probably has the smog filter settings too lol

I have one on a 2007 XK. Climate -> Settings -> Sensitivity.

This regulates the sensitivity of the sensor. Minimum setting = off.
