Default Stomp to Start?

Normally my new-to-me 2013 XKR-S will start with just light pressure on the brake pedal. This afternoon, after sitting in the garage for a week, CTEK connected, the ignition and lights would come on, but it would not attempt to crank. I read on another Jag forum that a heavy press may be required. I pushed hard with both feet and it started normally. After running, it will restart with light pedal pressure. I assume the electronics are looking for a certain amount of hydraulic pressure, not just the brake pedal position switch to be closed. Have others encountered this feature?

It happens sometimes with mine. There is a bulletin about this but I would have to dig it out.

It has happened to me twice. Both in the winter when the car has not been started for while.

Press and hold the start button in BEFORE you put your foot on the brake pedal. My XKR starts every time with a light tap of the brake pedal.

See my post #2 from this 2011 thread and replies: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...se-time-57460/

A more complete explanation is in my post #104: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...y+pumped+brake

Mannn quit using that ctek charger if you don't plan on letting the car sit for a month or so.That's probably what did it sending too much electrical currents through the car when it got enough or else the car will start having a mind of its own which sort of sounds like your case lol.But Jaguars are prone to electrical problems and i say avoid any foreign electricity that car itself is not providing if you not gone be letting the car sit for a very long time
