Sudden death...and recovery
Wow- last week on my way home from work, I pulled over to make a phone call and opened the door. Suddenly, the battery of my '07 XK conv just randomly died a couple of days ago...no lights, no ignition, couldn't lock the car, couldn't open the boot without the mechanical key...nothing worked.
Called AAA (and found that my policy had expired and they have a 48 hour waiting period before renewals are active- aw just great!)
And then all of a sudden, 15 minutes or so after the above happened, it was all ok. Battery back to full power, everything working including ignition- I was even able to operate the top.
Has this happened to anyone??

This hasn't happened to me. XKs are notorious for weird electrical happenings when their batteries become challenged. their are numerous threads on this forum dealing with this issue. The bottom line is. Invest about $60+ in a CTek battery tender and plug your car in every night to keep the battery at full charge and you should not have an issue. In addition you will probably extend your battery's useful life as well.
I agree with andys-GR. Sudden lost of complete power indicates a disconnect. Check your battery cable contacts to ensure a good connection. Failing this it could be the ground wire to the frame.

This exact scenario happened to me today. Went out to start the car, dead as a door knob. I was in a rush, went to look for my battery charger/quick start, couldn't find it right away (and my trunk was completely full), so on a lark I walked back to the car and it started as if nothing had happened. Battery is less than 6 months old, and drive it every day at least 60 miles, so it has plenty of time to charge.
Hi I had the same problem sometime ago, It was the battery connection under the centre console forward right. it has a tendency to work loose. Infortunately you have to remove the centre console to get to it.
Periodically clean the positive battery post and the inside of the positive battery lead. This connection degrades over time causing sudden electrical failures from an otherwise sound battery. This is not such a problem with the negative post.
Hey guys......
We've all learned how important it is to keep electrical connections "clean", "tight", and "dry". We've all used various techniques, to clean battery posts, and coat them and other electrical connections with various products. However, they do wear off or, due to their nature, collect all sorts of debris. (vaseline familiar?)
Anyway.....
I attended a seminar this past week at the Hershey RV show that discussed battery maintenance and other electrical maintenance subjects. He mentioned a great product for protecting various electrical terminals from on going corrosion, it's called "DeOxit". It's protections is based on an ability to prevent a corrosive surface from forming due to electrical oxidation. It's available in a spray and brush on form.
Another subject discussed was proper battery charging and on-going charging maintenance. It seems a multi-charging process, similar to what our "CTEK's" do, is an optimum method to charge and maintain batteries, whether AGM or wet cell. While he was not familiar with "CTEK", he was interested in it. His recommendation was the "TrueCharge2" as a dedicated RV battery charger.
BTW, the "Presenter" was not affiliated with these companies that made these two products. His credentials is in having extensive electrical certifications in DC and AC electrics and his expertise with RV electrical systems and controls.
Happy Motoring......
