Tach Needle Stuck
The tach needle has gotten stuck at 11K RPM. Tapping the glass won't release it.
There are several used instrument clusters on eBay.
If I want to replace the unit is it simply plug and play? How difficult is it to remove the trim?
Thanks for helping the Jag newbie.

Dug a little deeper and found this post from Cambo posted in 2019:
Swapping instrument clusters is not a small job, both keys need to be unpaired from the original cluster, and programmed to the new one, as well as the cluster being programmed to the car.
There is also the issue of the VIN being stored in the cluster (dealers diagnostic tool doesn't overwrite this), and the odometer needs to be corrected too, both things not easy to solve.

Try disconnecting the battery for a minute then reconnecting it. It is possible the tach stepper motor controller memory got clobbered and this will reset it. Don't forget to reset your windows after the battery disconnect.
There is nothing plug and play about the cluster. Pay heed to Cambo's comments. That said, did you give WhiteXKR's suggestion a try? I assume you mean it's stuck whether the engine is on or off. If so, that sounds physical to me and you can gain access to the gauge and see if manually touching it puts it back into place. Be careful, IC is nothing to mess with.
This should help

I'll try to get up the nerve to try to put it in its place.
Agree with Sean, sounds physical. I had a similar issue with a Ferrari speedo cluster. Sent it to North Hollywood speedometer in Burbank. Made it like new. They specialize in Porsche, BMW....but its well worth a call.
