Technology questions
1. Does the 2012 XKR have bluetooth option for the audio? In other words, can you play your tunes from iPhone wirelessly as the car came equipped?
2. Second question, is the GPS still C/D based and if so, is it upgradeable?
3. Is the technology suite (bluetooth, GPS, etc) better on the 2012 as compared to the 2010?
Thanks,
Bill

Answers:
1. No, you cannot play music via bluetooth, but you can plug in an ipod, thumbdrive, or mp3 player to play your own music
2. The GPS system is dvd based and you can update the discs for around $200 per update.
3. I don't know what you mean by this question. But the infotainment system is essentially the same as the 2010 version.

Hi. The way to tell the difference is that the "old" system has a blue screen and the new one has a black screen. I had the black screen in my '12 XF but I don't know when it came into the XK range.
With the black screen system, it runs on a HDD. I found it dreadfully slow and irritating to use compared to the blue screen although it has less windows. But I was always hitting the wrong button when I was driving. Also it takes about a half minute to boot up when you start, so no reverse camera until you have already reversed out of your space, the music has a similar lag. The sat nav is just as slow as it was before but it is HDD based rather than DVD based.
You do get Bluetooth streaming on music but then the CD/DVD is one disk in dash with storage into (from memory 12) slots. That takes like about 5 minutes to upload. I didn't see the point, but then I am a pretty impatient guy, and anyway I use USB sticks for everything.
So all told it is more advanced, but not necessarily better. If I had a choice I'd had the HDD setup, only because it is newer, but I didn't see it as going backward when I went back to the blue one for the XKR.
