Default Is there any other extended warranty outside of CPO

I was wondering if I could skirt the premium of a CPO car and get one as is and then get an extended warranty afterwards. is this possible, or is the only warranty available the select warranty

I just bought an 07 XK from a private party and got an extended warranty from the dealer but it wasn't Jaguar's warranty. It was from Fidelity (the Platinum coverage). The folks at the Jag dealership said it was better then Jaguar's. 5 years, 60K miles for $1784. When I bought the warranty, the car had 5700 miles on it.

Is it "Bumper to Bumper"?

Not exactly. I've attached a link to their brochure. The Platinum Plan covers everything listed in the other plans and only excludes a few things like brake pads, etc. The only weasel wording I found was the CV Joint boots not being covered. I asked if the CV joints were covered. The service guy at Jaguar said not if the cause of the CV Joint failure was caused by the rubber boot failing (Which is almost always the case). Anyway, here's the link:

I liked the pricing of the Fidelity warranty, however, if you search consumer reviews.... they fail miserably.

There are already several extended warranty threads if you can to search around.

In the meantime, I just had an experience filing a claim with Fidelity Warranty Services so I'll let you in on a few things.

1) NO WARRANTY is going to cover basic maintenance and normal wear/tear items, so understand that now before you freak out over having to pay for new rear rotors/pads, etc.

2) Fidelity (and every other warranty service) will not pay above M.S.R.P. for any part. If you have a concern, get the part number and look it up on parts.com to get an idea of what it actually costs.

3) They may argue with your shop about labor cost. They prefer you take the car to the selling dealer as they have a contract with that location. If you don't, be prepared for them to squabble. If the shop really wants your business (read: money), they will work with you and FWS to work out the labor costs.

I went round and round with Fidelity the last 24 hours, but with the support of the selling dealership, my local dealership service manager and service rep, we got things on track and my car is being repaired properly and I'm driving a loaner. Phew.

I went back to the Jaguar Dealer today to question the sales person about Fidelity regarding complaints I found online. The one complaint I found worried me. Someone said they bought a 5 year warranty for a used car and found out when they had a claim that Fidelity considered the first day of the year the car was new was the start date of the warranty. IF true, the 5 year warranty I bought last month will be up next August. The folks at the dealer assured me this is not the case and that they have had no trouble with Fidelity honoring claims. With that said, you do have to read the contract carefully.

The warranty starts the day the contract is signed. My 4 year/48,000K warranty for my 2007 XK began 29 December 2010 and ends either 29 December 2014 or at 68,557 miles, whichever comes first.

Whoever wrote that complaint is just plain wrong.

Just goes to show that sometimes the people writing in to those ripoff report sites have an agenda.
