Default Thinking of buying a 2007 XKR

Hello, I am new to the XKR forum. I have a 2003 XJR for my commuter car. I am considering a 2007 XKR with 38,000 miles. Please give me some insight as to the reliability, common repair issues, performance and things to look for etc..... I plan to get a pre purchase inspection if I receive a thumbs up from all of you !!. I do not want to waste my time if the XKRs are to finicky and have lots of repair issues. Thank you for your time

Rock solid and gorgeous, probably the best deal on wheels ever produced. You would never be sorry for buying one.
Your other post was moved into this forum, so you know.

the 2007 cars are superb. The defects are very few (I do not consider an electric aerial a defect!). Once a month you should close all the dash vents, put the climate control ON to full cold and the fan on high - this is done to blow water out of the drains ("duckbills") which otherwise have a tendency to stick shut with water eventually ending up on the passenger floor. Other than that the cars are really excellent, and as for looks, well, a picture tells the story:

You will have some maintenance items but repairs would be unusual.
Flush and change the coolant
Flush and replace the brake fluid
Complete a drop and fill of the transmission fluid

Enjoy the car

I would consider a 2008+ to move beyond the mast antenna and Taurus wing grill. Duck bill design needs addressing; about 1k at Jag dealer to fix the "official way". I never had any luck with closing the vents. Make sure dash leather hasn't shrunk. Make sure the car has all the option packs. Maintenance on the car is same as any other V8 Jag.

Default Health Benefits of XKR Ownership

Owning an XKR causes Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, as many long-time owners continue to look in on their baby in the garage every night before going to sleep. Doing so promotes a good night's sleep with pleasant dreams!
