Default Thoughts on the BMW i8

Here's some PR release photos of the production car.

Its got some nice lines but its just SO busy. i was hoping the production version would be toned down.

Heres some more info: http://www.autoweek.com/article/2013...iews/130809888

my favorite line was this "The appealing acoustics aren't all from the engine itself, though. As with the latest M5, BMW has combined the actual engine sound with a synthetic sound generator to arrive at the desired result. BMW calls it progress …"

LOL

Looks really bad-a**, a total "car from the future". Like one needs a white jump suit and mirrored glasses to drive it. Can't wait to see one in person.

It looks good but really needs more performance to be considered seriously. The new Acura NSX looks much more promising and is reported to have AWD torque vectoring stability, dual clutch tranny, and about 480 house power going from 0-60 in about 3 seconds. The i8 delivers nothing IMO compared to the NSX. The NSX is much better looking too, similar to a 458 Ferrari. Being built in Ohio, USA is blizz.

The NSX actually looks like a toned down i8, lol. They're both fun new cars though and i look forward to seeing them. Both of them seem a little too much borrowed from Ferrari/Audi modern designs. I will still always prefer some sexy curves like our jags have.

To me, they are not really competing cars. i8 is more utilitarian in purpose. I could see driving the i8 daily, where that might be more challenging in the NSX.

I hope to drive both when they become available.

I actually think the Acura looks sleek and nicer although the latter also resembles the CX220 Jaguar, methinks!
