So a lot may be due to a flawed manufacturing process or workmanship in country?

No issues on Michy's on my old XK8, Toyota C-HR, Audi A6 or the MPS4S's fitted for summer on my current XKR which have managed 22k miles and are all at still over 5mm (legal limit here is 1.6mm)
Country of origin/manufacture was one of my considerations. Tried to stick with known and established brands from US, Japan, France, etc. I was quite interested in Toyota, but ended up going with Falkens. Although some as little as 144 ea for the fronts, some if the off brands were very tempting.

So I went with Falken Azenis FK510s. Had good reviews and feed back from Tire Rack and other sources, and I've never had a set of Falkens. Only about 50 mi on them now, and first drive was in considerable rain (had been raining most of the day), but early impressions are good. Looking forward to some warm, dry weather testing 😁

Will update here again in a few thousand miles.

Another quick update and a couple photos.

Really liking the Falkens. Quieter than I was expecting at normal around town speeds (IIRC, Tire Rack reviews had these these on the noisy side) but these are noticeably quieter than the Michelins that were on previously. Ride feels much better as well. A lot more confidence on curvy on ramps and minor inclement weather. Falling in love with driving the car all over again lol Only about 550 mi on them at this point. Will update again at a couple thousand miles. Went with wider rear as well. Fit looks good on the Cremonas

Figured I'd post another update. Maybe 3k mi on the Falkens now and am extremely pleased. Had the XKR at the track once so far this year, and times are consistent with last year (once I got into the groove) with a best of 12.74 @ 109 (last year was 12.73 @ 108 I think). I'm feeling I may even be able to launch it a bit harder. The dry weather performance is fantastic and wet weather is much, much better than the Michelins that were on it previously. Confident at highway speeds even in heavy rain. May very well be getting Falkens again when time to replace, or maybe Goodyear Eagle F1.

No tune yet. Just smaller upper pulley, intercooler coolant pump, resonator replaced with x pipe. Factory cats and box still.

Falkens has just release the Azenis FK520. I'm waiting for them to arrive in Aussie for my daily driver.

Much appreciated!! I'm hoping with eventual tune and hi-flow cats I can break the 12.5s barrier 1/4 mi.
