Default Tire Pressure System Fault?

Was driving around two days ago and suddenly got a warning light/message for "Tire Pressure System Fault". Checked actual pressures and they are all good. Have tried restarting car but light comes on every time. Was a cold morning when light initially came on. Anyone else had this issue?? Planning on taking it in to dealer tomorrow AM.

Only thing I ever got was "Tire Pressure Not Monitored" when the in-the-tire thing was bad.

it could be something else as I have removed my front bumper to fill in license plate holes and prime and paint, which means I had to disconnect a few quick disconnects and I have the same fault warning on my dash so just an FYI.

I have had this issue on an intermittent basis. I get either a specific front wheel is not monitored or monitor system not working notice. My dealer has replaced the system twice under warranty and I still get the warnings every so often. Usually the warnings disappear after a few minutes or the next time I start the car. It is very tiresome.

TPMS can be a bit erratic (on any car) - it relies on battery-powered stand-alone sensors and low-power radio, which tends to be a recipe for flakiness. That 'TYRE PRESSURE SYSTEM FAULT' message can mean the TPMS module has an internal fault, or that it can't contact two or more sensors, or that the instrument panel hasn't received signals from the TPMS module within 3s of power-on. So it's hard to say what the real problem was without an OBDII code reader, and even that may not tell the whole story, because the full 7-digit codes need the Jag diagnostic system.

It's possible there's an intermittent problem, but the message won't go away until the car is happy that TPMS is working properly. I think it can only check that fully when the car is being driven, because there's an 'identification sequence' for the sensors that only takes place after the car has been parked for at least 15 minutes, and then restarted and driven at over 12.5 mph. It can take 2-4 minutes to complete.

Complicated, innit?
