Default Touch screen reboots constantly on startup soooo....

Must be time for a new battery. The odd thing is that my XKR has been garage kept and I've had a CTEK on the battery when I'm not using it. I guess Murphy's Law got me.

Anyway, to my question. My Jaguar dealer wants $400 for a new battery. My local Interstate Battery shop wants $250 for a non-AGM. So I've decided to swap it out myself. I want an AGM but I don't want to pay the premium that Interstate charges. Found this Group 49 AGM at Pep Boys:
http://www.pepboys.com/product/details/838838/00462

With 30% off it comes to $154. Does anyone on this forum have experience with Bosch batteries?

Thanks in advance,
Mike

Your car should be under warranty. Is it a 2012?

Yes, it's still under factory warranty. But I thought the battery was not included under that warranty (like brakes aren't). Let me check the paperwork.

You're correct! Battery is 4 years/50k miles. Looks like this fix is on JLR.

I would be worth checking with your dealer, they cover break pads on mine at 23,000.Always checking the battery but take a look at the attached service bulletin not specific to start up, but might be relevant.

Thanks for the info. As it turns out it was neither the battery or the touchscreen. The audio amp was not shutting off and had to be replaced. Here's what the tech report said:

Checked and found MOST network down. Traced out network and found no output from AMP. R&R radio and back stacks to access/test network. Checked power and grounds to AMP and found good. Found MOST into AMP good but no output. Replaced and reprogrammed AMP. Tested function and found MOST network working properly and communicating again.

This is an electrical gremlin for the books -- it is not battery related.

I'd had a similar issue and it was a dud mp3 file on a USB stick causing it. The screen would freeze then crash then reboot when it got to a particular song. I took the song off the USB and it was fine.
