Hi All!

I just had new sensors put on my 2012 XKR-S. as two of the old sensors had gone bad. I used VDO se53001. Which i was under the impression came pre-programmed and the car was supposed to learn on it's own.


While i just got this done yesterday - I have put more than an hour of driving on the car and it has yet to recognize them.

So, might i have ordered the wrong TPMS sensors? if so, what are the correct ones? do i need to bring it to the dealer to get them programmed? Is there a deflate/inflate procedure that i am missing? Do i need to be patient?

Also, i am kicking myself as i didn't save the old sensors to get a part number.

Any advice would be helpful.

The VDO se53001 were/are the original OEM. You can also use VDO se53004 which is the newer version. Both are self learning. NO PROGRAMMING IS REQUIRED BY JAGUAR. Just drive the car @ about 50 mph for at least 20 minutes without braking. They will engage with the system at that point.

Failing that - take it to a tire shop and have them confirm that each sensor is sending a signal. They will almost certainly to do this for free as it takes all of 10 minutes to check using their scanner.

Last, what errors are you gettin on your dash - let us know after you've done the above steps.

 

Thank you for your reply. I drove it around a bit more last night. but still no change. I may go back to the tire shop. but when i was there they did let me know that each TPMS sensor was reading correctly and the car just needed to be driven.


currently the dash is sayign "check tyre pressure" it is rotating through all 4 tires. - all of which i have checked for the correct pressure.

I will keep on driving and report back.

I would go back to the place that installed them and have them check out the sensors and shut off the dash light. They should have the equipment to do this and if necessary they can read the new sensor serial numbers into the TPMS module.

 

Inflate your tires to 40 psi and rive around that 20 minutes I mentioned. Do this before following Jagtoes good advice. If the lights go out, drop the air pressure to 38 psi per tire followed and drive around as normal. If the lights stay off for the day, drop again a PSI or two until you reach recommended tire pressure.
If that doesn't work, follow Jagtoes advice for next steps.

 

OK I need to correct myself - VDO SE53001 is OEM for Jaguar to 2010. VDO SE53004 is correct for your year. Now whether is matters or they just built the SE 53004 in 2011, I can't speak to. You might want to give Siemens a call. Or wait a bit and see if anyone with your model year used a 53001. I would still try over inflating the tires a bit. It's a harmless test.
