Default TPMS random erratic tire warning light - Convertible

So thought I’d share my case, I had the common TPMS warning randomly coming and going with all tires, and I have a convertible, and found that my rear window in the convertible top was starting to separate slightly where water would get in when going through the car wash

Turns out after inspection of where that water was going, I found the TPMS receiver behind the back seat was getting wet and the electrical connection had gotten corroded.

After cleaning the TPMS receiver and connector with QD Electronic Cleaner and cleaning the prongs on the receiver lightly with some very fine grit sandpaper that was super glued to thin tweezers, it completely resolved my erratic TPMS warnings on my dash

Just figured I’d share because I’ve seen a lot of XK or XKR owners have experienced this TPMS issue, and if you have a convertible top, it’s worth popping that back seat piece and checking the TPMS receiver (and the rear body control module for that matter) for any water corrosion

There actually two parts which can go bad. Receiver and module (which is not far away from it). I had swapped a receiver, but still had random errors (one tire bad, two bad, all of them, system failure etc). I needed a new TPMS module and after a replacement errors are gone for good. No more TPMS light on a dash.

Maybe that will help someone.

Behind rear seats middle panel on top of the rear BCM, I circled it here. My receiver circuit board was relatively clean but the plug was all corroded. When water gets in via that window, it can end up right on that receiver. Mine was sitting in a little bit of water when I discovered the issue. It also can especially corrode those big 3 plugs at the top of the rear BCM (the green, blue, and gray ones). I cleaned those up too and then put some dielectric grease on all of those plugs on the rear BCM including the TPMS receiver. Was a game changer, at least with my particular TPMS random warning issue

if the plug and prongs on the TPMS receiver are corroded, I’m not sure spraying it with QD Electronics Cleaner is enough, I was able to get a lot of corrosion off those prongs with that light use of extra fine sandpaper on tweezers tool I put together

I appreciate this a bunch man!!!!!!!Thanks for showing me where it's at.I seriously do believe i need to clean mine off to stop the problem from the car wash. But for some more advice for u if u got water leaking through your top, take some Tarp and cover your fuse box in the back seat.I'm hoping it's only the sensors in the wheels or around them that's throwing the sensor off

for sure! Will do! I did repair my convertible top for the time being with the window clamps and applying Rhino glue to where the window was separating (I read on another thread) which appears to be holding up pretty well! I’ll eventually just replace the top
