Default Transmission Fluid Flush Procedure is Flawed

Don's procedure to do a transmission fluid flush only deals with the fluid in the transmission and torque converted (if accessed through the procedure). The procedure in effect isolates the transmission cooler and its lines in/out of the procedure and the associated fluid is not changed or flushed. Please be aware of this if you have used it or are planning on using it.

The fluid in the cooler and the lines in/out can be purged with a pump or evacuator and refilled. Alternatively, after changing the fluid in the transmission and torque converting using Don's procedure the out line to the cooler can me reconnected to have the transmission pump the fluid in the lines and cooler through the inline to the transmission which can be left unconnected so the old fluid can be directed into a bucket until it changes colors.
