A true GT
I don't get how this XKR rides better and is also more comfortable than my 2016 XJ. It is truly a pleasure driving on the highway at any speed, which I did for the first time the other day for a quick 60 mi. run.
Even DW agreed this car drives beautifully.
~1000 mi. driven so far in 2.5 months
What a car!!!!!

Comparing your 510HP 5.0L XKR to your 340HP 3.0L XJ AWD is like comparing apples to oranges. I understand your need for AWD in NYC, but drive a 5.0L SC XJ and you'll understand. I don't know which one I enjoy driving more, my XKR or my XJ. They're both great but different. There is no "one size fits all". The road of life is short, so enjoy the ride!
Put your XKR in Dynamic Mode and it'll feel much different.

Was not referring to power or performance at all, it's obvious. I also had a 2011 XF SC from new , so already knew all about this engine setup

I am with you.
A very eloquent man described the XKR as "eats up miles of blacktop like Kim Kardashian eats you know what"
Actually the best review I ever saw on XKR! The only one that got what type of an animal it actually is.
For me I think what makes it the best GT ever, even compared to more luxurious cars or sports cars is that on long trips its not monotonous, it can float when you want it to and play like a kitten when you get bored. With all others you get hours of just one thing.

Another surprise is how much better the calibration of the 6-speed ZF to this engine compare to the 8-speed. Much less hesitation and buttery smooth.

Down under my XKR eats the miles with ease. Last week I made a spur of the moment decision you can make when you own one of these great machines.
I had to be in Brisbane Wednesday morning for a meeting and Sydney Tuesday morning before. Solution jump in the XKR and drive out of Sydney home and jump in the Jag to head north to Brisbane.
Left home in the Hunter Valley at 2.20pm, pulled into hotel in Brisbane at 10.20pm. Felt so fresh driving such a great machine.... not mention blowing the door handles off a few hotted up challengers along the way. 🙄
