Trunk Slats
What's the purpose of the slats on the floor of the trunk? They look nice but let everything go sliding around especially groceries. I know there is an accs trunk rug/mat we can purchase through the dealer but why are the slats there in the first place? Also is there a place to attatch a cargo net?
Thanks

The slats are supposedly there to protect the trunk carpet from the damage caused from luggage sliding around. I am told they first appeared in certain models of Jaguar from the 1950s and 1960s.
There is a plastic mat liner you can get from Jag. I got it for mine as I occasionally have to haul a gallon of milk on the way home. It has about 1 inch raised lip all the way around, so that if something spills, it has a chance of containing it.
