Default Upcoming 130+ thousand mile refresh

My 2012 XKR facelift model is getting a significant refresh. I have a tick that I believe is coming from a LHD driver side sprocket and the timing chain is over 100k Miles at this point. The new refresh will include dropping in the engine and even getting in on a stand for:

1- New Supercharger - Brand new vacuum actuated supercharge bought last year and shipped over from UK - its been waiting a year. This is because my coupler is toast and the supercharger needs rebuilt as I was dumb enough to never change the oil for over 100k miles. This will be the vehicles 3rd SC
2- Renew the factory metal Y pipe and or replace with the new version. Depends. Will also change the water pump and belts of course and add the water pump to oil cooler metal pipe vs the oem factory.
3- Renew timing chains, time chain tensioners and guides, and change all 4 sprockets.
4- I am going to purchase the 3rd timing chain and change out the Auxillary cam and its components. While we are down there I will replace the oil pump and its components as well.
5- New High Pressure Fuel Pumps and cam followers along with first the first time new lines. The HPFP's are original and so are the HPFP lines.

Should I consider replacing the oil cooler in the V of the engine? Is it a wear and tear item?? we will see if it is leaking I suppose why not.

After all this there shouldn't be a moving part on the outside of the engine that hasn't been replaced and it should be more sound and no TICK TICK TICK - which I believe is lower end on the timing chain.

What does everything think? Of course its not worth it. Unless to me it is. Ive always wanted to say Ive drove an XKR with original timing chain and tranny to the MOON. aka 240k+ miles. Considering I bought this care with 10,600 miles on it that means I need to go 600 miles over a quarter million to be able to atest to it. I want that.... and I'm willing to renew the car to get to it.

next project after this - renewing the entire freaking suspension with all new control arms, shocks, springs everything. Got all the parts been collecting of years now :P

Loth

Got to admire your pockets, deeper than mine.
I need a new profession in retirement, can I be your dry cleaner?

My Goal is to replace enough part to renew the engine for another 135k so that I can "drive it to the moon"....but also someone needs to figure out the tick noise associated with these engines. Its not the damn injectors. Ive replaced my injectors and it changed NOTHING. This car didnt tick like that new and my 13 XKR-S with 5500 miles as ZERO TICK. Its a wear item and if it was my injectors when i replaced all 8 would that noise not have reset to gone? Maybe im wrong but I feel like the jaguar TICK on these v8/v6 AJ engines can be heard in the wheel well best and its lower in the engine. Im hoping replacing the HPFP, cam followers, and lines may be curative. If not that...is it the auxiliary chain?

My GDI 5.0 has had injector tick since new. I don't know what to tell you about that. It's sort of the nature of the cat.

my 13 XKR-S is as quiet as a mouse from startup... always has been. Not sure. When I asked Dudly from wraptor customs to listen to a sound clip he said Supercharge, Injectors, and rarely timing chain. Injectors have been changed. he didn't mention HPFP, the cam followers, or the jack shaft or anything low in the engine. I feel like it's coming down LOW but is not a knock. It used to go away completely when warm or settle way down. Now it is there nonstop. my mechanic thinks it's the Sprockets for the timing chain at the top of the engine. Aye Nobody knows...

3rd supercharger?!?

I'm on my 2nd suspension. 3rd cats (self inflicted, of course) . 3rd generator, I think 4 batteries... maybe 5. I lost count on brakes, tires, filters, fluid changes...
Original diff. original chains, supercharger, oil pump, transmission, steering rack, fuel pump, brake callipers, fuse boxes, ... and at around 170,000 kms??

Hmmm, perhaps I should stretch her legs with my discerning eye, to match your efforts.

My WAG is the lifter buckets (cam followers) are worn, there have been some reports of this wear causing a loud ticking noise on the AJ133 and AJ126.

Lothar52.....Are you saying that you have the original water pump to oil coiler plastic pipe with 130,000 miles??. What other plastic pipes are original in your vehicle? Wow! Impressive! I really didn't think our cars made it over 100,000 miles without major repairs, especially the crappy plastic cooling system.

it came with factory metal Y pipes but the heater manifold is original and plastic. I have replaced 5-7-9 water pumps? every time they put a new plastic water pump to oil cooler pipe.

I can't seem to get a date from my mechanic...im on 144k just today and still no work completed. Needs to get done by years end!

. Get a load of this…..When I finally convinced Jaguar to replace my original water pump (( around 12,000 miles) which was covered under my extended warranty… they replaced the new pump which was the latest 8th upgrade but DID NOT replace the water pump/oil cooler tube. So although every single plastic cooling piece has been replaced since, I still have the original oil cooler tube/ pipe. Fortunately I have 19,000 miles so I’m crossing my fingers. Warranties suck!
