Not bad when I see the prices others are laying out
So here is the difference.
The prices here are huge but when you buy them you OWN them. No annual fee with the bonus that if you had brought XKR (or whatever) you have the right to sell the plates.

I know of cases where people have brought cars just to get the plates (transferable)
So a sort after plate could sell on eBay for far more than you paid. There is a huge trade in Vanity Plate buying and selling.

I'm curious if that is country-wide? Or can you get one plate issued in NSW and a Queensland plate with the same digits? In the US each state has a separate plate registry.

We are a united Commonwealth of Australia with 7 states. So yes every state is totally different in just about everything..legal ages for drinking and driving vary, road speeds vary etc etc. from state to state. There is rivalry between the states as to who's is best. We are known as "Mexicans" being a southern state.

In keeping with this dis-functionality all states have different number plates and it's own rules for registration. (and prices, colors and digits) My post referred to the state of Victoria being the best of the seven.

You have been to our Island Muddydog to know what NSWs is?

Hey, I've visited! And loved every minute, whether in NSW or elsewhere

Now, while we're using OzAcronyms, can you send me some VB? Hard as hell to find here...

Agreed. Was there for 6 months in the early 90s. Gosford and Armidale areas. Best place on earth.

Well, picked up a vanity plate, but decided to put it on the grocery getter instead of the Jag.

Default 2008 XKR Portfolio

LSTFORD aka Last Ford. I am from the Detroit area and want to show my loyalty to our employers and workers in my community. I like the Jaguar because of its history and looks and England has been a strong friend of the US. Ford bought Jaguar and some of my friends went to England to help develop the XKR, Ford spent a fortune to get it done but came out with great products. Ford needed cash and sold but it was the right choice at the time. I am an elected Councilman in a city of 100,000 people and they do notice what I drive. But most important I love the way the car looks, sounds and drives.

Default Love The Vette Pics!

Do you still have your Corvette? I'd love to know more about it. I've had 3 including a red '61.

No. I sold it in 2002. It was the May 1999 Vette Vues Magazine cover car with a featured article. PM me if you would like me to email that article to you. I sometimes regret that I sold it, but upon regaining my sanity I realize that I did the right thing. I have a wealth of knowledge about the '60 model if you want to pick my brain.

I plan on getting a veterans plate in NY. Still have to get to DMV this week but here's an example of what they look like in NY. Also note that the current orange plate in NY is ugly and I do not like how it looks on my car. The Veteran's plate is Red White & Blue as you can see. Now all I need to do is decide what to have on it. HMMMM????

Stuart great car, my choice was between the XKR and a early 60s Vette.
I just decided needed air bags and air conditioning for going to northern Michigan in summertime. Merry Xmas to all. Just awesome 6o Vette

Wow. That is unbelievable. I could never sell something like that. Sooo many memories, so much attachment... I cried when I sold my first 2011 XKR 175 which I only had for 6 months. So, I bought a new 2013. However, your corvette can never be replaced. Do you still follow the car with the current owner. I hope he's taking good care of it. It looks like a well looked after survivor. I bet it's worth a little more. As long as you are happy that is what counts. Give Sam a treat for me. Thanks for sharing this with us. That is so cool.

When you get the Veyron, but not before: RUNVS If'n you're antagonistic: QQQQ (*) I couldn't abbreviate "peripatetic geezer" (or spell it either) and as i'ma semi-literate southern rural rustic, who primarily uses the XK to roam undulating and serpentining back roads and the Blue Ridge Parkway, settled on: RAMLNMAN (* Surely some tail-gaiting Audiite somewhere has altered her grill with reversed chrome commas. Or, regular commas for viewing in the victimized tailgatee's rearview mirror. < Am I conceptualizing above my pay grade?)

I've been a classic Olds guy as long as I've been a Jaguar guy. My old plate from Ontario was "HEAT UP" which encouraged a lot of stoplight tomfoolery...
My bro in law had an M3 so when I got my XKR (near future) I told him my plate would be "M3EATR"
Depending on your personality there's always "R SOLE" OR "FA Q"...
