Anyone eyeball issues with the top?
When I zoom in looks like I have maybe a year at best after getting the window re-glued.

ya know, one of you really experienced, retired guys should offer a consult service. lol.
I’d pay 500 bucks to make sure I don’t make a horrible decision.

One of the benefits of the R is the fully alloy thermostat! If you love the color combo go see it and if you fall in love get it! Drive it, inspect it, run alll features and functions (sound system, seats, lights, etc). Inspect the belly on any lift for rust and damage. Find a body shop to give it a paint/body inspection. Might eliminate the PPI.

@Stuart S

As you can see in one of the first pics, the window has separated completely at the top. #7

I read a couple of threads, including your fix:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...p-97478/page6/

I planned on easing the top down and driving home that way to do the repair.
But… good ole weather app says rain.

Any temp quick fixes to get it home? (2.5hr drive)
I thought about a strip of duct tape (of course) on the inside to hold the top in place for the drive.
But that stuff leaves residue on everything it touches.

Looking for ideas from anyone of course.

Wonder if those Suck-N-Clamp clamps would hold for your drive?

Gorilla brand duck tape leaves much less adhesive behind, especially over a 3 hour period.

Wide black Gorilla Tape could be a quick and easy inexpensive temporary fix. It's very sticky but I don't know how well it'll hold on canvas.

It appears to have the original top. It's a waste of time, money, and effort to try to save it, as it's time for a new top. If you can't afford a new top, you shouldn't buy this 2007 XKR.

Thought I had mentioned that I’ll already budget a new top in the negotiations. I even mentioned it to the seller and he reiterated, grandma just wants some cash out of it, I told him it is $3100 which is based on two quotes I got. He said, yeah. So he is aware I’m offering $3000 less out of the gate.

That all said, I need to drive 2.5 hrs with 40% chance of rain. Need the gap closed until I get home.
Then I will do the cheap temp fix and set up an appt with the shop, order the new top and have it shipped to them.

What you need is Speed Tape. It's used on aircraft and motorsports racing vehicles. It's pressure sensitive metallic tape made to withstand high wind speeds. The adhesive doesn't crystalize like duct tape residue does. BUT as far as use on a fabric top, what really WOULD work?

Yeah saw a video of a guy explaining that when a video of a taped component on the outside of a jet engine went viral.
Ill look into it.

Assuming you can drive safely without viewing through the back glass (for 2.5 hours), I would prop the rear glass up with a bunch of old blankets or pillows, then duck tape the outside surround to keep water from leaking in.
My rear glass gave out one time and I did similar until my trip was over.
