Default What to check before buying a XKR

Hello Everyone

I'm an ex owner of a Porsche Carrera 2006 and ex owner of a BMW M6 2007 and now I am looking to buy a XKR 2007 - 2008

I want to know what are the top five things I should check before buying the car.

I will make sure it has a full service history etc... But I need to know what are the top 5 thinks to check the XKR if they are replaced or still in good condition before I buy

I thank anyone who would be kind to take from his precious time and respond back to me

First thing I'd suggest checking is the "Search" function, you'll find that question gets asked a lot and there's probably 40 pages or so focused directly on it. Everything from the basics to in-depth detailed write-ups

Spend some quality time researching this section and threads. There are plenty of ideas, and there are numerous problems that have been reported on the 2007-2008 XKR model years. Nothing major, but certainly items of interest.

First-hand research is your best bet before buying one of these beautiful high-quality driving machines.

This section is packed with information.

Because you're in Dubai and presuming that your XKR will come from Dubai or other nearby country, you should carefully examine the leather interior for sun damage, particularly shrinkage of the dashboard - a common problem in hot climates. The AC drain "duckbill" is another common problem; make sure that the condensate drain flows freely since you'll always be using the AC.

As others have stated, learn to use the search function. Almost every question has already been asked and answered. Pay a Jaguar dealer to do a Pre-Purchase Inspection and pay a body shop qualified to do aluminum repairs to inspect for any paint or body work.

Good luck with finding the one!

Expect to fix the AC drain, change the transmission pan/fluid. Both together is around $1400 USD at dealer.

Take your time and don't rush, do plenty of research and this forum has plenty. I love my 07 xkr and apart from a few minor niggles, you won't go wrong. Shipping a car to Your location, i see it's Dubai might be a no, no. But if i was on the look out for a 07/08 i would have considered this 08 4.2 xkr-s, 1 of 200 a classic.

A relatively minor, but still a common problem on X150s, with a known 'fix' here in UK was one that I experienced - corrosion on the boot lid. See the thread I started

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...rranty-150303/

I had it fixed under warranty so it's OK now.
