Yesterday got my V5c back from DVLA with my old XK100 personal plate added.
So today checked and the original plate wasn't showing on the insurance database, so had to fit the plates or risk being pulled over by the Popo
Messed up the front (but only £5 so will order another) as too cold/windy here ATM. Wierd as the font size is right (same as rear), but I think as it's a white decal with no border, that it looks small on a white car?
Rear does fill the space better and came straight off my X100...surprised it fitted TBH!
Will carbon wrap my holes as a temp measure until have bonnet resprayed
Because the lettering is just a little too tall, and even if it fitted there are 6 protruding holes that need to be knocked back in and filled, where the old number plate plinth and plate were fitted.
Also the UK correct and legal plate size is is 520 mm × 111 mm (20½" × 4⅜") these cannot be changed by law, so wrapping the vinyl plate around that centre bar would not be legal.
As it is a stick on plate isn't legal over here, but I've not had any problems with MOT or the police with my prior X100, all agreed it looked far better

There is a company that can produce me an actual carbon fibre GT diffuser but the prototype I've seen came up more grey than black, they also do the carbon fibre engine cover too. Silly money and probs only saves a few lbs....so will give it a miss
As there is too much white going on I was referring to the rear boot lip spoiler to being wrapped however if your wrapping your diffuser in carbon it should break in up very nicely

But the boot lid of the pic of the GT you posted is white, only the diffuser is black.
And no I've no intention of wrapping the diffuser, my insurance have said it's fine to do the mirrors and the wheel arches for extra protection, but the diffuser will purely be cosmetic and want to keep my £320 per year at that level.
On a separate note whenever my son used to see a car with a BIG spoiler he's ask if it was faster than mine...whether I replied yes or no he would then say 'But they do have somewhere to dry their laundry!"
OK so having looked at the CCF of both the 4.2L and the 5.0L, neither version has the field "INSTRUMENT_4_LOW_COOLANT_WARNING" in use.
This tells me two possibilities;
#1 the low coolant warning function is built in to the instrument cluster software and is not a feature that can be enabled or disabled. The feature may or may not be present in the 4.2L cluster.
#2 the switch function is closing the circuit to trigger the warning (which is a little counter intuitive) in which case, grounding the pin on IP032/14 would/should trigger the warning.
I found this in the 5.0L workshop manual Engine Cooling section "If the coolant level in the expansion tank decreases below a predetermined value, the level sensor connects a ground to the instrument cluster, which activates the appropriate warning. For additional information, refer to 413-01 Instrument Cluster."
When you check section 413-01, it's contradictory... "A warning message is also displayed in the message center if the coolant in the expansion tank falls below a given level. The instrument cluster is hardwired to a level switch in the expansion tank with feed and return connections. If the switch opens the instrument cluster detects the low coolant level and displays the applicable message."
So I guess it's possible, but i'd have to pull out the instrument cluster and test it, also have to try to find the right terminals for that connector...
Or get hold of a 5.0L and try unplugging the sensor, and grounding out the wire at the sensor. Actually both tests would be a good idea...
Any chance you can post up some detailed pics of the sensor, and confirm how it functions? normally closed, normally open, etc?
Installed the new tank today, as it turned on the nipple indeed had a crack in it, even though it was not yet leaking. The old tank had the socket for the level sensor too so I guess Jag had intended to do this at some point. Shame the new tank is of the same design, they could have improved the fitting...

He meant the plinth, which is available in genuine carbon from Jaguar.
Dash cam fitted yesterday, just so I can have those 'OMG' moments recorded. In the UK most police forces accept dash cam footage sent to them as adequate evidence of reckless/dangerous driving...I've had two of those so far in my 4 weeks of ownership...so now will have the evidence.
A very small unit that sits in front of my rear view mirror and is invisible, it only gently beeps to remind me of road speed changes and impending speed camera's.

Two more days then the car goes into wintersleep!
OK so we don't get winters in my part of the UK like the rest of the country...and nowhere near as bad/cold/icy as mainland or northern Europe, subsequently I've never had a car I couldn't/didn't use all year around.
Admittedly it's been easier with the use of Winter/All season tyres for the last 10yrs and imagine it will be a whole new experience with 295 profile winter rubber than previous drives.
I think if I couldn't drive it all year I'd not keep a car! That said it's been below zero the last two nights...so it could be a cold one
Ashtrays came in today, they are rather swish, and unlike Audi ones (which cost £70 and have plastic lids) these were £18 each(after my 10% discount) and have metals lids!
And no I don't smoke in my XK but it does mean I've somewhere to put coins and stuff in...and when I want to use the holders for drinks I can easily take them out and throw on back seat without worrying about the contents spilling out.
A BIG plus is that the sliding armrest still slides to cover them
