Ted (tberg) said he just saw this upgrade in-person and they look great, so I found this thread to see for myself and agree! My XKR is stratus grey and I think some chrome bling on that long hood would make it pop!
Thanks to XKR2010, I have a new set of wheels. He was selling his 20" Kalimnos, which I purchased . After having them refinished, trued and powder coated, they are now installed on my '14 XK Touring. The bigger tires seem to make it stick better, but up here in the North East the terrible roads with all the potholes the ride quality has suffered a little. I always liked the retro styling of the late model Thunderbirds... but the interior didn’t satisfy me. Nor did the engine or suspension.

I just did some preventive maintenance on my 11 XKR. Oil change, Diff change, and new transmission filter change. (6ltrs) Old fluid in Diff was still somewhat clear. The old trans oil was also not bad for 81k miles. I had all the hoses we could see when I busted a hose under the intake. $2,000 worth a month ago. I have had her since Aug. 2017. I bought her at 58k. I did a water pump last year. They said I had a minor leak in both head gaskets and some seepage in the front seal.
I will probably have the SC oil changed along with plugs and wires at the same time. I don't plan on doing it for a few months but I expect that adventure to be pricey. I love this car and plan on keeping her. Any suggestions and ideas on my upcoming adventure?
While tracing down warning message "Dynamic Mode Fault", I had to remove a rear wheel to get access to a grounding plug (broken ground from rear height sensor). Wheel nuts were hopelessly overtightened and distorted, but managed to hammer a 19 mM socket on them and thankfully got them removed. Replacement (non-Jaguar) nuts ordered for all four wheels. Can't imagine facing this on the side of a road, in the rain, at night. Yes, the supplied Jaguar lug wrench was less than worthless. Moral is: don't let a service shop use an air gun on your wheels...
Yesterday I changed my wheels, to switch to the summer ones, with 20 inch Sentas and a red central cover. I feared the car may have become less comfortable, but not at all. However, it feels much more planted and stable with the summer tires, which is fairly normal after all.
I also changed the left brake light bulb...and broke the point of the rear unit because the manual is inaccurate and misleading (speaking of one bolt whereas there are 2). Had to glue it back afterwards, but the repair is visible.
Also had to change the battery of the key fob, as it ceased working pretty much without warning. Had to open the car using the key, which made the alarm go off...
Replaced rear tires with Bridgestone Potenza RE050A, I still have the Pole positions in the front and will prolly replace them in the fall or spring with the RE050A's.
Rear tires had camber wear so I'll be replacing upper and lower arms, shock bushes and links soon. I have the parts, just need to block some time.
FWIW, I was told by three different local tire shops that the Potenza S-04 Pole Positions 19" were phased out by Bridgestone. They all said they had a few in stock but were not new. They also thought the 18' and 20" were still in production based on their warehouse stock. Under the law, here in Minnesota at least, they can't sell tires older than 5 years and two of the three shops said the 19" were phased out 4 years ago. I called Bridgestone Customer Service twice and both reps said they don't have that kind of detailed information. Not wanting to install 4 year old tires, I switched. Too bad as the RE050A is $400 per tire and the S-04 Pole Position is $100 less.

I had the RE050As on my previous car (mk3 Mazda MX-5) as they were the stock tires. Then I switched to Goodyear Eagles F1 Asymmetric 3 (now I think it's Asymmetric 5). MUCH better: quieter, better grip and even a little less expensive. The RE050As are ok, but I'd no longer recommend them once I tried the Goodyears.
Replaced the rear upper and lower control arms, stabilizer links. Waiting on the toe links and front tie rod ends - on order
I cannot believe how much of a difference it made on my ride. The silence going over bumps or ruts is deafening. The rear end is tight and firm and not even the slightest clunk on a rough road. I just got used to it I guess and blamed the $(&@)YB@!!! roads on all the noise.
I know its minor, but cleaned and protected the convertible top with 303. Also finally got my door handle lock cover replaced and painted.
Color matched, but not the clear coat - it was not as glossy like the rest of the paint.
Shattered window... won't get into the details but I decided to change it out myself instead of raising my insurance rates. Went pretty well except for the cleanup. It was literally completely shattered. There wasn't a single big piece I could just remove. Luckily I was able to find a replacement with the same tint. Just need to do an adjustment since it goes up a bit slower than the other side.
