Default What you don't do

I went grocery shopping yesterday and saw an 07 XK 4.2 NOT supercharged with an (R) badge on the trunk lid. COME ON!!!!. The funny part was that the (R) badge adhesive was not sticking good, or lost it's adhesivess that the (R) badge was sitting at a 45degree angle. TACKY!!! GHETTO. If you don't have and (R), don't pretend to. There are ways to tell it's not an (R), one is the hood. The other is the wheels. You have a Jaguar not a Honda Civic.

The other funny thing was I've seen the same (R) badges before on Xtypes. One guy told me he had an XTYPE-R. Yeah sure you do.

This reminds me of a debadge thread on mbworld lol...

It's for the most part always the guys with the lesser models looking to do so...

Some say they ike the cleaner look of a debadged car, but I think at least for the majority, it's trying to avoid the lower end model syndrome so to speak

P-O-S-E-R!

I did debadge the "XK" on my XKR but left the "R" on the rear. I have the '08 XKR-S replica kit but I would never get the "R-S" badge.

I've seen a W209 soft top convertible with a CLK43 on one side and an AMG on the other side. I pulled next to him with the SL65 and revved it alittle....he wouldn't budge and wouldn't even look over. The W209s had the 55 not 43 and the CLK AMGs doesn't come with soft top vert. Looked obvious it was a stock CLK320 or 500.

Also....saw a E500 with E55 and AMG badging....tell tail sign....dual exhaust instead of quad and incandeschent brake lights instead of LEDs standard on the E55.

Or....this guy on the forum with a E320 thinks he can put E55 and AMG badge because he has AMG wheels and AMG E55 Tips. Guys on there were ripping on him....one guy put it best.....it's like having a V6 Mustang and putting Cobra badge on it.

When I see this kind of thing I am embarrassed more for the person than they are themselves (probably).

It is sad and wrong.

Seems some Corvette owners have taken the same approach by adding Z06 badging to the base Corvette that has been modded with many Z06 parts that Chevy dealers are willing to sell.

I guess it’s a form of flattery.

Default I was only tempted for a moment...

A month or so ago, I added the chrome "R" style fender vents to my base 2008 XK. They looked so good, I was BRIEFLY tempted to add the "R" to the back of the car to 'complete" the look

I immediately realized the only people knowledgeable enough to be impressed by the "XKR" on the rear of my car would be the EXACT same people who would instantly realize the "R" designation was bogus...

Why would I ever want to subject such negative attention to such a beautiful machine...

ROFL that AMG story is too funny

I've also seen a v8 mustang w/ an R badge, I'll try to snag a pic next time I see him. it's kinda hilarious.

If the R is coming off, maybe he can replace it with a "Hemi" badge.

I did compliment my 07 with the 4.2 badge shown in the parts catalog. I don't know why these cars didn't come with it installed.
It's their cars and they can do what they want to but some of us will know the difference and just laugh among ourselves when we see them.

"Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery?" LOL yes it's kind of funny, with all you would have to do to make an XK truly look like an XKR using parts, by the time you achieved the "look", you would have spent enough money to buy the real thing. Both are beauties, except one gets better mileage hahahaha.
I do get a chuckle out of the import four bangers using the exhaust and fake venting and hood scoops and actually attempting to take you at the lights. My response is usually, "captain big block says NO" lololol

I thought R badges adds 5 HP to the rear wheels? That's why I put one in the front grill......

BTW....a couple of years ago a teaching pro at the club I go to debadged his C230 so a friend and I got an AMG badge off of ebay and put it in back of his car....LOL. He said he kept it on until it started sagging further and further down as we put magnets in the back of the letters.

He said teenagers would laugh at him when they pull up at a light and he thought it was funny.
