Hello Guys, just wanted to hear your thoughts on how much whp could I gain from the following from my 2011 Jaguar XKR. Currently, all I ve done is upper pulley and Eurocharge ECU Tune and exhaust work. Old engine took a crap and installed a new one already. I have decided to really wake this bad boy up and do the following. Water meth kit, larger lower pulley, colder spark plugs, new tune on dyno, oil catch cans, nitto drag tires, etc.
Can anyone tell me realistically, how much can I expect out of this thing. Hope I can be around or close to 600 whp. Am i dreaming?
Am just guessing, but with the 5lt already putting out 510 at the front end, I've been told that with my existing mods (just my upper pulley, no backbox and K&N's) after a retune they reckon they can get to 600 at the front end, an extra 30 if I have racing cats.
Was told to steer clear of a lower pulley upgrade.
If (as I remember things correctly) there's a 17% drop from the front end to the wheels then to put down 600 whp you'd need to be putting out 700+ at the front end, I think that'll be possible, although pushing things.
I'd be looking at weight saving opportunities too, especially in the unsprung dept, such as lighter seats, discs etc, and if you're a bit of an FB (NOT facebook) then a diet may be on the cards too
Put it on the dyno now and put it on after the mods. Seat of the pants HP is not a recognized measurement. No dyno numbers is false speculation. Do it right and then show us the numbers. Good luck
I already did the before and it did 488 whp and mechanic said, that previous tunes had my car running on the lean side. Adjustment just made. Now, all work is getting done. I will for sure show dyno #'s when done.
Do the lower pulley and a tune. Stock pulleys on the 5.0 is nowhere close to maxing out SC efficiency. The only reason the R-S makes 550Hp is due to transmission torque handling limits placed by ZF.. You will get a massive increase in low down torque and it will pull harder at higher rpm with the lower pulley. Uppers are cheap for a reason. Trans might not last 200k miles but who cares. They are cheap enough now. Look at the CGT twin turbo W12 6.0 makes the same torque and has the same trans in the early models as the XK.
You got to remember that there are a lot of dyno manufacturers. Some will read 500whp ,some will read 600whp on the same car So it all depends. Although there our conversion methods to Dynojet numbers as it's one of the more widely used Dyno models. For example on my 08 XKR using a Mustang Dynometer dyno I'm at 430whp converted to DynoJet numbers would be around 475 to the wheels.
I Just recently tuned a 2011 XFR, Dyno was done on SuperFlow Dyno and we got around 470whp and around the same for torque, translate it to DynoJet numbers would be over 500whp+. On the street with street tires the car did 11.9 in quarter mile, Will probably be around 11.6 on track .
