Default Wood Upgrades?

I'm torn between a late model X100 and earlier model of the X150, and trying to get my bearings as to which car is the right one for me. While I know in virtually every way the X150 is a superior car...my heart says the interior of the X100 is at least a superior "Jag". It's just such an occasion.

For me, the main goal of any sporting grand tourer is copious amounts of leather, metal and wood. So I was wondering if anyone knew of any companies offered more wood trim for the X150?

I know some specialist firms give door cappings for the X100 and full wood steering wheel upgrades. I attached a couple pictures from Myrtle (I think) as to what I'm on about, but sadly neither are from the X150. The steering wheel is from their X350 line and the door cappings are from the X100 line.

There is just something about an unnecessary amount of Timber, particularly in a British car, that just speaks class. It's probably the North American in me. I do understand, especially for an Ian Callum designed car, it's probably not a terribly common request. Nevertheless, I appreciate any direction someone could give me.

For what little it may be worth, whichever coupe I get would be a special occasions and weekend driver, so I'd be okay to wait a little while to get something nice made too, just as long as it was "just right".

Thanks guys

The X150 had an option for a wood trimmed steering wheel in the first year (2006 UK, 2007 ROW). Not as woody as what you pictured, but tastefully done on the top and 2 lower sections.
I have it on my 2007, but don’t have a photo handy at the moment (I’m sure there are photos in this forum of other owners cars).

Edit: A search came up with this thread with one similar to what you posted, although the link to it no longer works. So that type was available at some point in time.

Edit #2: See post #4 in the pictures thread in the stickies: Picture thread

Fully agree and don’t understand how they keep trying to get the aluminium look to be superior to the wood. Wood is probably more expensive to make but a pleasure to the eye.

I went for the best possible available x150 Portfolio 5.0 because it is the better drive, more spacious vs the x100.
That said the x100 seems to have more classic value (appeal) at the moment. With regards to the interior also there is more wood and also more gauges (still really miss volt and temperature despite an OBD reader workaround). So if you don’t need the extra (head) room or the better body control you could consider a x100 for the wood.

I got mine with the aluminium look trim originally and replaced it with the wood trim and thanks to help here found a good set of wood on EBay .

This is about it for the X150 except you can find some wood trimmed window switches for sale on eBay from time to time. The pic below is from my car

Ashton,

I suggest that you contact Saul Chaplin at British Autowood, Inc. He may be able to help you.

This is my idea of a perfectly integrated wood finished interior, it has a nice harmonious flow

Might have to file off a few edges to get it to fit in my Jag.
