Default Wortec Suncut Discs/Rotors ordered

Normally fitted to F types, was intrigued by the weight saving over stock which apparently is:

Lifted from another forum:

380mm front (18kg / 38-40lbs per disc stock)
376mm rear (15kg / 33lbs per disc stock).

The ceramic braking system offered on the F-Type saves 46lbs of unsprung mass, Wortec gets very close to these savings with their 2PC disc, in fact they exceed them:

380mm front Wortec 2PC Disc (11.5kg / 25lbs)
376mm rear Wortec 2PC Disc (9kg / 20lbs)

As such Wortec saves you around 50lbs in unsprung mass, which is as good as the ceramics, in fact a little better. Reasoning for this is because the ceramics are larger disc than our steels, hence the saving, also Wortec have being doing this for a very long time with their primary focus being weight saving due to their motorsport background, though many don't agree with drilled disc, myself being one of them Wortec have perfected it and their disc offer the following:

- Rotors cast in their own material (FC28-30) which has better thermal profile than OEM rotors / disc and is more corrosion resistant (less rusty look).
- Bells machined from 6061 T6 Aluminium alloy and then hard anodised.
- Fixings are stainless steel.
- Rotors are fully floating (expansion and lateral load)
- Lifespan: similar to the OEM rotors and approved for motorsport use.
- Our rotors are cast then heat treated for 12hrs, then cooled for 12hrs. They are then machined. This stops any stress cracking on use. No oem or Brembo do this!

Should be fitted in 3 weeks...and yes they were a little pricey, but as mine may be the first time they've fitted them on an XKR in the uK, so got a healthy discount to use in promotion work

By comparison, my bare 400mm Alcon front rotor weighs 33.3 lbs.

Thanks Stuart so an 8.3lb/16.6lb saving in unsprung weight on the fronts alone over the alcons is not to be sniffed at.

I don't intend to track the car but these discs just look so darned* pretty I had to buy them

*Just proving I'm bilingual

Yes plus am now back to my fighting weight of 154lbs

It takes me back to the days (90's) when I owned an MX-5 which i supercharged, the club president couldn't understand how he'd had the same mods done but his car wouldn't record the same speed on an airfield run. I pointed out to him that as he weighed over 250lbs the only way that was a achievable was by him going on a crash diet!

Note to self: You really need to practice this 'charm thang'

PS: Anyone weighed a backbox so I can guesstimate how much I've lost around my backend...or...does my muffler look big in this?

Eaton running at 18psi with methanol injection

I got it down to a 4.4 0-60 on a gps test on an airfield.

THEN I added a nitro's kit, never had it gps checked but SOTP Dyno told me it was around 3.5 seconds.

Those little 1.6 engines were bulletproof...plus had racing hart wheels that weighed a mere 9lbs a corner

Maybe check into so Dickass brakes while you're at it.
Seriously.
I saw 'em on an old "The Grand Tour" yesterday.

I'm scared to search for them though.

I read an article some months back which said that there are no longer any disk brake rotors cast/made in the US. The way the US mfg's get around this is by getting the blanks from china or south america and do the finish machining here in the states. Then there are these that come complete which are sold by major outlets ( autozone . etc. ) complete and made in china. So would be surprise as to where the OEM rotors are made.

Hello Marky,

You will be very happy with the Wortec Rotors. I too found them via the F-Type Forums, and I believe I was the first to install them on a XF (X250) platform. I have probably put about 3000kms on them and the EBC yellow stuff pads, and I have to say, I am very happy with the upgrade.

Thanks HJ, your thread made a good read and lots of pics that were much appreciated, I think on a sports coupe like a F type or XK they should look better than on a sports saloon...but of course they'll have the same advantage of function on all

Weirdly they called me today to say they were in and wanted to fit this week, sadly am not back home until Saturday and back to work the following with meetings in three different locations...so fitting will have to wait until w/c 5th November

Will report back!

Look at image 1 of 19 and 6 of 19 on Wortec's website, The writing on the scales (bottom left) and the SK machine looks like Mandarin. rotors/discs
I have no doubt that you have bought an excellent product and I would love a set for sure. Just because the product is not made in Europe or USA does not mean it is not any good.

Just for info, the 380/376 mm brakes are made in Germany by ATE who also supply the calipers and rear pads. Front pads are from Jurid, also made in Germany.

ATE have a plant in Shanghai. They make rotors and brake pads there.+ 86 21 6080 3002. Dalian Road Shanghai. Either way, I use ATE all the time and the last three sets of rotors and pads I bought from them are all made in China or Poland. All worked very well and would buy again.

The "big" Jaguar ones say "Made in Germany" on the boxes.

I find ATE stuff to be good too and OK priced for OE quality so have no problems using them. The last pair of Brembo discs (different car) I bought were also made in China. They seem OK so far. My latest Goodyear winter tyres are made in Poland. It is hard to know which size is made where theses days and one would go mad if one tried to rule out certain countries of manufacturer.

Well the garage (Sallows Jaguar Specialists in Rooksbridge 6 miles from me) called today.

Initially I thought they were going to advise that my discs had been delayed...but NO they advised they were in if i wanted to go and take a look...so I did with a set of scales

Here's the pics!

Aren't they purdy!

Fronts

Rears

So that's 36 Kgs/81lbs for the full set, have asked for my old (4.8yr old) discs back so I can end this this thread with a 'fitted' and weight saving post..along with pics

EBS Red's in the car so can be changed at the same time on Thursday
