Hope some can help me out.
I am looking for a "new" car, to replace my o6 X3.0.

I am looking at a 2006/07 XK with a 4.2 engine.
Is it a Jaguar engine? How is the engine? Good, solid?

The 4.2 V8 [AJ34] is a Jaguar V8 and is an evolution of Jaguars first V8 (the 4.0L AJ26) It was used in almost every Jaguar model (except the X-type)

I have the 4.2 in an 09 XK. 300hp in that car is a blast. On a trip from Jersey to NC, I would get 30-32 mpg on the trip computer if I left it to cruise control and didn't play. Since the engine has been around for a while, its reliability is quite good.
