Default XK Damaged

So I got my indigo blue XK coupe one month ago. It came with a slight dent and paint blemish in the door, so I brought it to the dealership during a rainy week to get it fixed. Good news, the door with the ding looks perfect!

Bad news: Went to get in, and there were two new scratches on the driver's door. They buffed them out before I left.

The horrible news: On the way home from the dealership, stopped at CVS, went to put something in my trunk, and noticed a scratch on the tail light. Started to do a walk around. Scratch on the rear bumper, both left fenders, a 1ft by 1ft area badly scratched on the roof. Two or three badly scratched areas on the hood. Chips in the front of the car. Scratch on the windshield. Scratch on the A-Pillar.

Then the inside, first thing I noticed was a scuffed shifted knob. Then a scratch on the plate under it. Marks on the mats, seats, and dirty doors, door sills, and steering wheel.

I am 95% sure someone took this for a joyride while it was at the body shop. There are marks on the backseat and I've NEVER had anyone sit back there, and when I picked it up, there was a lot less gas than when I dropped it off, and the passenger seat was really far forward, the only way to fit someone in the back. I found this stuff at 6:05 on friday, and no one was left. Hopefully I can straighten this out Monday.

Forgot to mention, looks like they also hit something with the left rear bumper as there is a big scuff mark there.

Pilot, I wish you well with the dealership. One thing you should remember before going in there with with the fuse lit is you took posession of the car without doing a walk around and from their point of view, they have no way of knowing what may have happened to the car after it left their driveway. Sometimes they do a walk around or even take pictures of the vehicle when it comes in, if this was done it might help your case. If not they will likely still claim no responsibility for the vehicle after it left the driveway.

WOW, id very upset to say the least!

id say show up in person tomorrow as soon as you can make it there!

Of course, make sure its clean before going in so they can see the spots clearly.

JJ has a point although they also cant prove you did it since you got it back. You might ask for security video to account for your car the whole time it was there.

Be prepared to get your lawyer and media involved if necessary, as Marketing & PR consultant I can promise that will get their attention. The media loves those kind of stories, esp with high-line vehicles.

No one had any idea how it happened, but they were very willing to get it resolved. They sent it back to the bodyshop and got it back in less than a day. Got it back it back and it was in great condition. They were very apologetic. They went through it inside and out and even ordered the parts that were scratched inside. Can see how Jag was rated #1 in customer service. They really did a great job at taking care of a weirdo situation.

Glad to hear they made things right for you! sometimes even if you both know how something happend you let it go and they are sure to figure it out behind the scenes,

the important thing is they fixed it right away and at the best possible level!

Terrific ending to a very sad story Pilot. It's times like this when we're glad we bought a Jaguar.

I always write down the mileage when I drop off my car at a strange place. Also let them know that you know the exact miles and DO NOT authorize any driving whatsoever. I had a bad experience once when my mother's car was driven 300 miles while at a body shop.

Now I only use one place that I trust and don't mind if they drive it to make sure the repairs are OK but they are pros..
