Hi,
Has anyone tried mixing brake pad types. eg. Akebono Ceramics on rear and OEM type on front.
Is this going to work out OK; not sure the ABS will like it or notice ?
Seems to be the only partial solution to brake dust; tried the wax thing (ArmourAll) on the wheels, didn't seem to help much..........

I would be concerned about affecting the handling by using different pads on just one end of the car. But you could always try the new pad to see if it's better for dust, and then either change the other end also, or go back to the stock pads for both.

Thanks for reply.............the reason for asking is I can't find any Ceramic pads for the fronts!
Anyone know if the XK front pads are unique (must be?), I know the rears are the same as the S type and Volvo. Hard to believe that nothing else uses the fronts; very unjaguar, what!
Help! still searching.............haven't looked in the UK yet......

I've also been searching for ceramics but have been unable to find them. If anybody knows who has them please post contact info.

Spent a lot of time last nite and this am looking at different brake catalogs and it appears that the 2007 XJ8, S type and XK's have common front and rear brake pads.
If this true then EBC Red Stuff Ceramic pads should fit our XK's , they are not listed for the XK fronts but E35DP1911C fits, XJ8's and S Types!
According to Centrix the same front part nos fit all 3.
And for the rear EBC DP31749C should fit all 3!
Next time I visit Tacoma Jag I will verify if all 3 vehicles are common............
