XK-R and XKRS 2013+ Reliability

Do you know what 'failed' in the active exhaust? Was it the same component each time?
...
Holy crap! I just googled C2P25629 (the 5.0L version of the back box), and they are reaming you guys! $5200 was the cheapest I saw. When I was looking for the XKR back box for the 4.2L (C2P2176), a year and a half ago, you could get a new one for $1350. Now the cheapest I can find online is $1735. WTF? Inflation in XKR back box spare parts? Sounds like an investment opportunity.

OK I just looked under the car and see where the vacuum pump is located in the rear left fender well. I also see why they would replace the whole back box as the vacuum actuators are not replaceable. They are welded to the exhaust pipe and the unit is swagged to the bracket. So your options would be to leave the butterfly open , fix it closed or replace the back box. The other method would be to cut/weld a used unit or fit an aftermarket butterfly unit which are available. Interesting as to why they designed it in this fashion. Must have been a cost issue.

Things that I have fixed or changed since I had my 2012 xkr-s are as follows
1) Air filters were not fitted correctly - torn rubber seal. Replaced with Mahle filters
2) fixed glove box soft open feature- Cord had come off dampner mechanism. Simple fix with removal of glove box, a cotter pin and a 2mm drill bit
3) Fixed dash sound generator - this is the device that makes warning sounds for seat belts, door ajar, turn signal clicks, headlight on warning, ice warning etc etc.
4) oil and filter change with correct Jaguar Castrol Pro oil and Jaguar filter
All very easy to do with basic tools so really two mechanical failure and two service items at 30k miles. Now everything is working as it left the factory.

Hello All,
Decided to join to ask you all if you could tell me what the reliability is like for the 2013 to 2015 XKR and XKR-S is like.
I'm wondering if anyone has owned one for quite a bit of time and could tell me if they've had issues with the major components (engine/trans etc) and/or regular maintenance issues.
I do drive a Lexus now and am use to a sense of comfort with its ultra reliable nature but I have been dying to get my hands on an XKR or XKR-S (price permitting).
Obviously, I know its not going to be as reliable as some of the cookie cutter cars, but overall, how does the V8 with a blower stack up? Are they tried and true components used in the past? Any data?
Any info you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
