Default XK rear seat success!!

I just got back on a test drive with my girlfriend (5'1") of a 2009 XKR, and I am happy to report that when putting the front seat as far forward as it would go until her knees hit the dash, she was able to then get out of the front seat and sit in the rear seat--with 2"+ of legroom left between her knees and the seat back! Amazing!

Now I just need to find some more girlfriends to fit in the back!

Alan,

The real test is when both of you try to get in the back seat.

It's not an easy car to christen; VDP was more functional in that regard.

That ship has sailed. I was too afraid to do that in the back of my VDP because I thought I would blow the air springs...

From Jag to Volkswagon. Where there is a will there is a way. Somebody must stop Alan before he breeds.

Funny to read this. A close friend just bought a 2010 XKR Convertible and it was delivered in Monsoon of rain we are having today. My wife is not crazy about a 2 door, but she got in the front and moved the seats the same way and my daughter got in the back and said, "this is okay". She got extra ice cream from Dad tonight!

Friends car in my garage next to my explorer looked very much at home......Hoping to move forward on my deal in the next week or two....XKR 09' Portfolio

Haha, are you looking at the '09 XKR Portfolio at Jaguar Chantilly? That thing has been there for ages!

Nice call sir. Indeed I am. They are anxious to sell it. Guy told me I needed to act fast. I reminded him it's been in their inventory since March....

I just don't see how your girlfriend could fit. My daughter got in the back of mine, leg room is okay, but headroom is not. She's 10yrs old and 4'-10" and can't get in the seat the way it's dished out. Wife is not happy because she had been in the friends 2010 XKR Conv. and could fit okay. I guess the coupe has less headroom?

Oh yes, the headroom makes the rear seat in the coupe impossible. I recall headroom being more in the convertible (I was able to sit in the backseat without having my head hit the convertible top, but I couldn't fit my legs).

If you look at the inside of the hatch on a coupe when it is open, there is a warning label about braining your rear seat passengers when you close the hatch. For me, the rear seats are there for insurance purposes only, although my lunch box rides quite well in there.

Well, I have an update. I had two real live women sit in the car--on the passenger side. One was 5'1", the other was 5'2". They were able to fit with 2" legroom (combined) to spare. I have sat in the back seat (I'm 5'7") but can't get the front seat to fold back into a practical position. However, the back seat itself, while a little upright, is reasonably comfortable--I could see a small (thin) person sitting there for up to 30 minutes. With the top down, that is!

I think the bigger comfort issue is that the front of the seat goes up, so you really need to fold your legs up. However, with so little legroom, you'd be doing that anyway, so it makes sense!

My wife and two kids (soon to be 14 and 16) have managed to squeeze in to my XKR coupe with me driving. I am around 5'10" and my kids aren't far behind. I had to compromise on my driving position a little but we managed a 20 minute journey. I wouldn't do much more than that though.
