xkr question informal poll
Hi Everyone:
I recently acquired a 2011 XKR Poltrano Frau. It has a black pack.
I took the car to fix some damage caused during shipping and the body shop suggested that the letters "supercharged" on the hood should be painted in glossy black instead of salsa red, which is the color of the car to match the black pack.
What do you think? Do you think this one individualization ruins the factory idea of the vehicle?

Well I'm probably biased because I've just had mina grills and cf vents installed, but if I had your (beautiful - I never knew about that limited edition) car I'd just buy the cf Mina vents with red "supercharged" on them (they supplied mine with red, but gave me silver "supercharged" stickers as well I suppose in case I didnt like it). They are pretty cheap, like about a qaurter of what Jag charge for the same thing.
I think the cf vents stand out a lot better, and I've always had a thing for bonnet vents so they cant be prominent enough IMO. Also it is reversible, so if you want to sell it takes minutes to swap them back.
But if that is over the top for you, yeah I think that painting the "supercharged" black would look pretty good.

Like Bruce, I've never heard of that model - even rarer than mine. I think the lettering would look good in black. But, if you're not sure, get it done standard & then try using plastidip or some other non-permanent paint effect to see if you like the look.
I'm always a little nervous of customisation of a limited-edition model - I'm hot/cold on the idea of getting a '75' badge made for mine, since there are no external indications of what it is. But provided that whatever you do is reversible, it shouldn't be a problem.

Hi Bruce:
Thanks for the Mina lead. I just saw the glossy black louvers and they are very cool. You are right, if I buy them, I get to keep the factory ones to put back on if needed.
